Chasing the Last Autumn Colour on Vancouver Island

In this video, Brian Barnham and I head out on Vancouver Island in search of the last traces of autumn colour. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go to plan. Between poor light, constant drizzle, and uninspiring skies, we were skunked entirely at several locations.
But that’s part of landscape photography—you can’t always control the conditions. Instead of giving up, we pushed on, trying to make something of what the day had given us. Through patience and persistence, we found a few beautiful moments of backlit colour hiding in the forest and along quiet creeks.

Don't you think Autumn is a special period of time for landscape photographers?! I get so excited when this shoulder season arrives.
I remember back a few years ago when you and your friend Jeremy Jackson found those Autumn colors at Abraham Lake...not only beautiful environment to be in, but a "target rich" environment like that you must have been giddy with delight! But times like those at Abraham Lake are rare indeed, and the difficulty in finding captivating scenes to photograph, such as in your current episode are more typical.
But your effort to find good subject matter, is appreciated!
Oh, by the way, it is always good to see Brian in your videos again. I think he is a good pair with you (except for his snoring). I hope he returns in the future!
