"Your response was perfect! Sometimes we need to walk away and let people see their own consequences. Has anyone else ever stood up like that to their family?"
Again, its always fine to go zero contact with bad family... and this family definitely sucked. I would've noped out of that alledged intervention meeting in the first 20 seconds of the "presentation". Well, at least he eventually countered with a "presentation" of his own. What goes around comes around.
This story reminds me of a book that ends on a cliffhanger and the second book is never made. A waste, how are we not going to be given the aftermath man!!
My father never forgave me for graduating college at 22-years-old. I had made my 27-year-old older brother, the alcoholic, pothead, college dropout, look bad. My older brother, the first born, was supposed to be the first one in the history of the family to graduate. The year after my older brother dropped out of college was the same year I announced that I was going to college. My father was furious! How dare I outshine father's golden boy. If I wanted to go to college, I had yo pay for it myself. So I did. I had my savings and academic scholarships. Academic scholarships for the one my father called the dummy. After 4 years of professional work experience, I had the finances to live independently. I moved out at 26 years old. I moved from New Jersey to California. My father was furious! My father missed my regular, monthly rent check. In California, I survived and thrived. I was not the prodigal son. I did not get a financial inheritance. Six years later, my parents kicked my older brother out when my older brother was 37-years-old.
I guess some people missed the fact that his immediate family manipulated the entire extended family all the way up until he walked in the door. So if they initially lied to get everyone there they more than likely lied about what was being voted on.
As I see it at 10:00 the family want him to earn more money so that they can leach off him. His brother made $15,000 in a quarter and owes OP $800. Pay it back before this farce goes any farther.
