Welcome! We've been plenty busy working on loads of new videos. We have more Dark Souls coming up, and we'll be taking a look at Demon's Souls soon!

I like how the world building of Bloodborne is basically the same as King's Field - clerics find a big magic dungeon and build a city on it. Hilarity ensues.

What is truly intriguing about the old hunters workshop is its location in the physical world.  It is accessed through a locked door inside a small chapel.  Which implies that only clergy and church attendants were allowed back there.  That door leads to a behind the  scenes section of the ward.  The tower that contains the door to the workshop likely had a spiral staircase going through it.  So hunters would quietly go to this chapel and into a back room.  Then make their way through the tower to the workshop where they probably received assignments or orders.  Then they would return to the town and take a spiral staircase all the way down to the bottom.  This would come out in a poor part of town.  The clothing there suggests commoners lived there as well as butchers.  Butcher shops were often placed in narrow corridors preferably in the lowest part of a city to keep it out of the heat of the sun.

But here is where it gets interesting.  These hunters were originally creeping out at night.  Quietly killing beasts and those showing signs of transforming.  Walking around at night covered in blood carrying what looks like a cleaver is hardly subtle.  However, if people believed you were from the butcher’s ward.  Why would they question seeing someone with dried blood on them?  Towing around carts of “meat”.  I absolutely love small details like this.

I like to think the Doll twitching is an implication that it is dreaming, that maybe it's the anchor of the Hunter's Dream.

My headcanon for the chalice dungeons is that they’re in a situation similar to the lecture hall: real places kinda displaced in reality that require special means to visit. That’s why as you descend toward more advanced dungeons like Isz you get the sense that they’re farther from the material world and “deeper” in the pocket dimension.
I realize it’s only a fan theory but I also really like the notion that Loran is actually a different empire from an age far removed from Yharnam that essentially suffered the same fate.

14:50 i'm pretty sure the night of the hunt isn't a regular night, it's heavily implied that the moon presence is making the night last unnaturally long

It’s so cool that Bloodborne has all these dark and twisted themes without feeling “edgy.”

I think the reason why is because it doesn’t use dark themes for the sake of having dark themes, rather it uses dark themes to enhance the fantastic storytelling that FromSoft is iconic for.

Tonitrus connoisseur here, the charging up always kept me calm during the fights

According the english translation of the song, Laurence was partly driven by the idea of curing and improving humanity before he realized it was a mistake

Hemwick Charnel Lane is actually another reference to the Edinburgh era, specifically how Edinburgh and similar areas treated widows, the elderly, the homeless, the insane and the leprous.

Basically rounding them up in workhouses or workcamps and using them as labor for the mundane chores needed to run the greater city. Most of the "weapons" the witches and their mobs are using are in actuality the myriad of tools that these workhouses more habitually made use of in their servitude.

The Charnel part is in all likelihood an addition made for the fact Yharnam's economy would require more cannibalistic forms of work from these workhouses, but most likely Hemwick is directly related to Yharnam as it's their lowest of the social strata all rounded up into a single labor plantation.

the charnel lane witches were very likely working for the church (and byrgenwerth), in the same way early surgeons were very friendly with gravediggers,  they're likely where all the ritual body parts were harvested, given the only waking world body parts are found on the path to the witch, and likely Not working with the vilebloods, as the bone marrow ash says it was invaluable to hunters with weak bloodtinge,  meaning their main customers were church and workshop hunters and Not vilebloods

timeline wise the church's statues seem to imply the instigating event was the byrgenwerth scholars discovering the chalice dungeons, followed by Laurence dying (or already being a dead man they had dug up) and being resurrected by communion with a Great One and its blood - possibly Kos, or Moon Presence, or even Oedon.

My fun theory about pc hunter is that they were never human to begin with, and that’s why they only know how to do basic things like shake off their cape or plead for their life after being gifted the gesture by watching somebody else do it first

I honestly think the reason the abandoned of workshop is where it is is because that's basically where Gherman was and doing his duty before he decided to become the minion of the moon presence and to basically give him a constant trapped version of limbo the moon presence basically has tracked him in his workshop for the rest of his life that's why we see the doll not alive in the real workshop because he put Maria's soul into the dream version as he would not be able to do that in the living world

Paarl: Shh - do you hear that? That's the sound of forgiveness.

Archibald: That's the sound of people dying of electric shock , Paarl!

Paarl: That is what forgiveness sounds like. Screaming and then silence.

The witches definitely work for the healing church and they collect eyes so they can ascend to higher dimensions or to the dungeons

What also doesn’t help the chalice dungeon’s dilemma is that they are not effected by new game+ so it could be some kind of it’s all cannon but the metaphysics of the world perseveres it in a way where you can traverse a version of it at a fixed point in time where you can kill/take what you want but once you remove the chalice from the alter it resets back to its “original” state

Someone proposed that Hemwick is where bodies are burned and turned into bone ash for Hunters to use in their guns. It makes sense to me since there are lots are chimneys burning in that location and the female inhabitants likely tend the ovens (like a whole coven of Hansel and Gretel witches employed against the Beast Scourge).

This was delightful. Clarified some lore I kinda forgot/was never clear, like that German specifically beckoned the moon presence to create the dream

I think the chalice dungeons are obviously canon, but they’re sorta memory’s, like the one with rom, that was probably where she ascended. The one with ebrietas, that’s probably where she was found. Stuff like that.
