The Amazing Race 39 premieres Wednesday night after Survivor!

season 16 is the season I always tell people they need to watch or rewatch if they haven't. Jett and Cord's plays on that season are unmatched.

Season 27 is criminally underrated imo, I mean, the penultimate leg was insane!

My dad and Nick Spangler, one of the winners of season 13, are friends from doing community theater before Nick was on Broadway. So even though I don't watch the show, I think it's cool that family friends of ours won The Amazing Race.

Season 14 was my first season and it was a pretty fun watch with a lot of interesting characters

TAR2. It's sandwiched in between two of the best reality TV seasons of all time so gets lost in the shuffle and nobody ever seems to think of it as their favourite, and it's definitely got it's flaws (the cast often feeling like "season one but slightly worse", the over-reliance on Anglophone locations, production still trying to work out how to do challenges that aren't just "clue's over there, go fetch"), but it's got a couple of the most legendary teams of all time, much of the best scenery in the show's history, a cavalcade of spectacular moments, some truly excellent tasks that could be repeated today, and THAT finish. And on top of that, it's doing all of it while trying to navigate the realities of filming at a VERY difficult time (not only weeks after 9/11, which ruled out Europe, but also in the middle of the Southern Hemisphere summer when every leg was stinking hot), and it does so better than any of the other troubled production seasons like the Covid ones or the one that got affected by swine flu (15?) did. It's extraordinary.

Season 12. It's a really fun season in my opinion, there's not really any sleepy teams, so everyone gets a moment to shine regardless of how far they make it, and being the first season with the U-turn, it becomes the first season to have all the standard parts every season will include from that point on.

I’m currently watching old seasons starting with season 19, I literally just started watching the Amazing Race the last 3 seasons, so I’m catching up now.

Season 8 is such a guilty pleasure

I loved the final challenge in 21, which led to one of the most shocking wins in the show’s history

I would like to see a season where for the first 6 legs, there are no eliminations. You gather points based on your placement. Thirteen teams, then if you come in 1st, 13 points, 2nd 12 points and so on. At the end of leg six, all teams are pulled together and announce 1st a team that continues and then a team that doesn't continue. Obviously in this format, all remaining legs are elimination legs since essentially all previous legs were non elimination legs.

Hey, Season 9 is one of my favorites! But I agree with Season 21. I didn't like it the first time, but it really grew on me on rewatch. That final challenge was brutal, in a good way

This comes down to deciding what is "flawed" or "underrated". That's S6, and to go with your no spoilers premise, I won't give details, but the "flaw" is more how and who plays out more than anything, as there are so many iconic and unforgettable moments, right down to learning how to put gas in your car. S10 is just missing something...decent cast, but following what in my view is a much higher rated S9 than some do, S10 felt like the sequel that tries to copy it and isn't quite as good. On its own, a good watch. But your video mentioned the ultimate flawed season, S29, a banger of a season until...until...untill....can't spoil it here but...just watch.

A low-key insane season is actually the very first. It has unpolished production, which is evident if you want any other season following it. However, it also established the entire premise of the show really well.

I did a rewatch a few years ago, and the season 21 was my favorite. Between the Twinnies (polarizing, but I love them) and the Chippendales, I was laughing constantly.

A bit of a hot take, but I think Season 30 is another underrated season. The route is actually pretty solid that outside of France and Thailand, most of the countries visited have only been revisited twice at most, mostly once and a cool new country in Bahrain. It brings about some new interesting twists like including an evolution of the Intersection, plus a pretty iconic task as the switchback this season too. The cast is pretty solid too as I would like to see teams that finished 2nd-6th and 9th return at some point and it has one of the closest and tensest finishes in Modern Amazing Race, fitting for a finale leg in San Fran for the show. For its flaw, these 2 but the big one is a really weird one that is unique to the this season alone, it goes by very quickly with over half of the episodes being double episodes like CBS and TAR just didn’t care for this season. That might in part be due to what the 2nd flaw opened up for next season with the team that won. I don’t dislike the winners but them being reality stars definitely didn’t sit well with the fan base at the time as it showcased what many saw as the show’s identity crisis at the time. To me it’s actually one of the better seasons in 20-30 era of the show and while it should be your first season, give it watch some time and you’ll enjoy it. RIP Tim from Team Chomp this season.

As soon as I saw the number one on this list I yelled out “TOP FAVORITE SEASON OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!” This is the season of the show that got me on board (well besides the COVID seasons and maybe TAR 30 before I got rekindled to the show by TAR 35 which is #10) back when it aired in 2014. It was Legs 3 and 4 that got me in because I liked the locations and 2014 is considered by me to be the gold standard of years I’ve lived through. I loved many of the teams and a couple of them make it decently far (with one of them even making it all the way to the final leg). And if anything this season may be considered TAR version of “Survivor 20: Heroes vs. Villains” which is widely considered one of the best seasons of all time on THAT show. All around a phenomenal season!

As for the video itself, I would also consider TAR 27 to the list. It is true that most (if not all) the teams on that season make mind-numbing mistakes. But I believe that it helps add into what is otherwise a fun season. Also there is one team on that season that completely runs laps around all the others most of the time so I can see why some might see it as predictable. But the final two episodes completely throw that assumption out the window because of a dumb decision in a very long line of them. Finally my favorite team from that season won the race which makes the season have a satisfying finish as the assumed dominant first place team on nearly every leg gets its comeuppance. It’s all around one of my tops along with TARs 26 (aka Blind Date Edition) and 35 (which has a cast of mostly heroes, at least for me).

Unofficial fun fact about TAR 25: my dad has a piloting friend who may or may not have appeared on the first leg of the race in assisting teams in the seaplanes you see in the first episode (on both the season and in this video). Today he owns a motel in MI but my dad and the rest of my family haven’t seen him and HIS family in a while. So the next time we venture up there and stay at his motel I’ll have to ask the friend about that season and find out if the personal conspiracy theory is true! Thought that was something really cool even if it does turns out it may not be true. But we’ll have to see!!!!!

17 is tbh my favorite

I love season 22- the route is incredible and there is some drama.

Family edition was so bad. And the worst part was that the one and only black family happened to have the last name Black. Hearing Phil call them The Black Family while narrating always made me double take
