A physicist told world leaders at a climate summit that if they destroy life on Earth, they could be personally responsible for destroying meaning in a galaxy of 400 billion stars.
In this clip, Joe Rogan talks with physicist Brian Cox about the Fermi Paradox, the unsettling question of why, despite trillions of planets and billions of years of cosmic history, we've found no clear evidence of other intelligent civilizations. Cox explains why he'd actually welcome a UFO landing tomorrow, walks through the argument he once gave to world leaders at a UN climate summit about humanity's cosmic responsibility, and discusses physicist David Deutsch's speculative idea that advanced life could one day influence the fate of stars themselves.
If we really are alone in the galaxy, does that make us more important, or more fragile, than we think?
