I'm in love with my bronze Lie Nielsen No. 4 🙂 - but maybe it's in another category (heavy weight)

Man, who needs Netflix when we have Jamie giving us a shoot out of four premium hand planes? Thank you, brother! By the way, after we exchanged messages a week or ten days ago, someone alerted me to you're behind Plane Wellness. If I were in the U.S. I would join you in Pennsylvania. Wishing you all the best with that meeting and all else,

Grey cast iron has superior vibration dampening compared to any other kind. This is why it was used for many machine tools.

fun video, Jamie. nice job! I think you absolutely touched on some of the positives and negatives. All three look to be awesome planes.

Love it! I've never used a 4 that I know of, but I might need to find one.

Dear Jamie,

Veritas custom plane has something to do with the lever cap angle - I believe. Its probably to steep. I noticed complains about it. The solution was to grind a bit off, because shaving were cloging around the mouth. I have good experience with LA planes, because you can clear the mouth by sliding the front shoe there and back. But anyway I would like to try that Veritas.

Kind Regards

You didn’t test it but I love my ECE primus smoother. She got a work out today, I can do at least 20 passes before having to clear the shavings.

Have you tried the Wood River planes? How do they compare? How about the similarly sized Veritas bevel up planes?

For me the best value is the Qiangsheng with the most comfortable tote ever on any plane. Also the Bailey adjuster which I greatly prefer for its leverage. Set screws are essential for Norris adjusters.
