Today I’m sharing how I create and pay my custom neighborhoods in The Sims 2. I find that this can be an incredibly rewarding gameplay loop where you can craft unique stories and characters. This guide will walk you through my basic steps of setting up a custom hood, creating original Sims, and developing engaging storylines.

What helps me with creating backstory or on-going narratives for my custom hood and sims is leaning into the absurdity and cheeky writing Maxis presented in the base game.

looking forward to this series! really cool getting a peek at your off-camera neighbourhood :D I like playing with both original sims and premades, both are fun for me, though with original characters I find having some kind of structure or challenge helps me get started! then once I get to know them as characters and become invested in their stories and personalities the challenge itself doesn't matter so much, haha

This is so cool to take a peak into other simmer's behind the scenes creative process. There's nothing more fulfilling than a rich storyline for a custom character you created.

super interesting video. I’m currently exploring sims 2 as an artistic medium. love the idea of building and documenting a group of 12 sims over time 👌😁

I love this! I have been a premade gal since day 1, because every family I make ends up being exactly the same. I am looking forward to the lore and build ideas coming up!

This is the coolest thing I’ve seen. I’ve always played want based and I can see why I got burnt out. I’m going to try and make my own story on the sims. Thank you :)

I want to learn how to create scripted events for my own Sims, i'm pretty sure with different families be it small or big a scripted event can help giving them more depth.

I just start with my first neighborhood and now I feel like I have to move everything to an empty template omg

It’s like a mix between Veronaville, Strangetown, and Pleasantview. Do the feuding families have same amount of members. One thing I hate about Capps vs Monty’s is the unbalance of members and how the Capps are also above in money. The Capps have more money and family members. Are the feuding elders still around?
