5:55 - Gotta love how "subscription free" is now a selling point worth printing on the box.

Waiting a year and a half for a Kickstarter item while Techmoan just casually receives the sequel in the mail is the most authentic tech reviewer experience possible

My Saturday morning cartoon is on

Nice to see the cassette made it to the permanent display! It was the coolest of the bunch so it makes sense

I like when companies send Mat stuff. He gets a thing and we get a video out of it. Win/win

The "waterfall" load is oddly reminiscent of a C64 or Spectrum game loading from tape - half-expected the music from "Monty on the Run" to kick in when it was done 🤓

I can't wait for color e-ink to come way down in price even more. The idea is cool and pretty useful for some applications but it's a lot like buying an AMOLED display in 2010.

Got to say, you're looking well today!

I cant wait for a few years/decades in the future when a A2 or A1 sized E-ink picture frame is affordable for the average person. The bigger wall art size interests me a lot more than small frames.

Looks like a ZX Spectrum loading Jet Set Willy

I think a slideshow function would be great, in conjunction with a SD card slot. The frame could change the pictures once a day, preferably at night

E-ink has really improved since conception. It can actually do 60fps now.
The problem is it has been monopolized by one company that makes the panels and electronics. They buy out competition and then set up the price to whatever they want. It's a real shame we don't have working laws against such practices. Because they are really choking the development and innovation and the worldwide adoption of the technology (that 60fps improvement is no thanks to them but to a solo developer who was passionate about E-ink).

Love the concept. When they reach prices of 30-50€ they will probably start selling well. So far they are WAY too expensive.

actually looks pretty legit. The wooden frame reminds me of the ones in my nans house

Never really been into electronic picture frames but I do actually like this idea

17:15 As always thank you for the video Mat!

The way that box opens really made me think of some old business software boxes.

"Looks like someone's getting this one for Christmas." Classic. I almost choked on my coffee.

Looking forward to the technology improving and cost coming down. The new model is definitely better colours

Just ordered one for my parents xmas pressie. The $50 early bird “discount” was enough to set my fomo off. I’ll test it at home until xmas, then probably get a second one.
