The last time I went back to Bridgend (about 12 years ago), I stayed at that Wetherspoons and I enjoyed it. The pub area was cleaned up and better than I remembered from my younger days. Regarding the bus station, I still fondly remember the old bus station, with its little tea room and book stall (I used to catch the number 7 or 11 to there from Pantyrawel, where I lived). It's a shame to see the town centre so dilapidated now because I remember it as being a vibrant and bustling little market town. Being halfway between Cardiff and Swansea means it is probably not as strategically important or convenient as it was in decades gone by because travel between the two cities got much easier when the M4 motorway opened (I seem to remember that was back in the 1970s).

Pigeons are friendly, outside the jobcentre ,i used to drink in the whyndham arms in the 80s it was really popular with live bands .

You should definately have had your dinner in Wetherspoons ..... I have stayed in Wetherspoons hotels and have always been impressed ...... great value for money.

Mel, Marcus that was a good value option for a overnight stay. Thecroom looked smart and comfy with good facilities.
Whilst taking Mel for a treat to Bridgend may not be the most glamorous location however it give others an insight for a stop over perhaps to venture on the the Elan Valley from your previous video.
Nice seeing Wales in the Sunshine, it needs to be recorded because it doesn't often happen 😮

I just knew it was going to be Bridgend 😂😂, I grew up in Brackla now living in Maesteg, Growing upbI sad saw the decline of Bridgend Town, hopefully I will see the rebirth of if in my lifetime though I'm not hopeful sadly.

I stayed in the Wyndham for my wedding night, way back in 1984, when it was genuinely a decent (ish) hotel, before becoming a Wetherspoons!

I thought for one minute you were off to the Seabank for the night! That hotel looked very decent at a great price. Italian also looks nice. Would be handy to stay there for people attending functions in Cardiff as you could get the train in. Far cheaper I imagine. Regards Julie and Keith 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
