Thanks to watching this video twice, I was able to fit my cable in ten minutes, without being able to see the lever fork end, just by feel. Incidentally, the box of bits that came with my D3 project had a new clutch cable in a box marked D7. Thanks for highlighting the errors that could face all of us.

You know on the bit near the end of your video where you undid the side locking nut and screwed the bar all the way in and then tightened the locking nut back up   does this take up any slack in the cable that I have on my new lever on the handlebar.

Well done mate I too used the adjusters instead of ferrules. Maybe it's not how it came out of the factory but It works well. I had to cut the other cable down about an inch and it was a nightmare. I cut it down with a grinder very gradually making sure I didn't touch the inner cable. I too wasn't sure if I'd done the right thing but it's good to see somebody else had the same idea. John, fair play to you for doing these videos, but fitting a clutch cable should be no more than a ten minute job. Instead of removing the engine, why did you not remove the rotor, the five screws and simply pull off the cover, which would have made access to the  quick-thread return spring and cable attachment fork so much easier?

When you've done a few, you'll have learned to fit the cable to the engine, before fitting it to the frame. A good series though, thanks for posting.PS, the angle of the clutch arm is all wrong too, screw the adjuster screw in about 5 turns or more. Cable inner looks much too short to me. The new spring is wrong, ends should be closed up anmd it's too thick.

I've had similar problems myself,  would have been good if you could have given inner and outer measurements.

The problem is the lever. The fork wears out and gets loose. New fork or reshape the exsisting. If you leave it the thing will fail again, 50 miles from home!

It's a poor design, the fangs of the fork only have to wear slightly to fail. They barely hold on when new!
