thanks so much for your excellent video. It is sad that more people have not found your channel. I am new to the art market and yet I have already seen the reality that most artists face. We must make art for ourselves and those who enjoy the work for the works sake even if it would be nice to at least cover the cost of materials! And I hope you have the determination to keep making videos!
I recall the Turner painting you showed early in the video and the crowd funding campaign, to which I contributed, in an effort to bring the painting home to Bristol. The museum was ultimately outbid at auction and didn't have the funds to secure the painting. A loss for the people of Bristol, the people of the UK and art lovers everywhere.
So very true all you have said. I think Van Gogh is the greatest example of how rigged and unfair the art market is, as it also was in his time. He sold only one of hundreds of paintings for very little money. Now the "critics" say how great an artist he was and the paintings are valued in the multi-millions. He even has his own museums.
