For me the show has a little bit of both? Mostly it's the way it should be interpreted but other times I'm just like "that was strangely cute."

I was able to show to my best friend the first three episodes of Invader Zim... She "awww'd" most of the time, but what made me laugh the most was when we where watching "Bestest Friend". I was all "Yeah, you keep doing that".

But darkness Gore and sarcasm give me the warm fuzziness!

I'm trying to imagine what the reaction would be if Lauren Faust said this to a giant room full of bronies, hahahaha.

He has a dry sense of humor and its hard to tell when hes joking or not sometimes. Also his personality is very intense. Watch him at a signing sometime, he signs EVERYTHING that the fans ask him to, even limbs sometimes.

Why...are there so many people getting angry in the comments section? Jhonen jokes about practically EVERYTHING. I'm almost positive that he was just JOKING AROUND with the fans at the con. I AM one of those people that 'awwws' at various things in Invader ZIM (though I also find it both funny as hell and CREEPY as hell...lmao), and I thought this was freaking hilarious! Why must people always take things so seriously nowadays? xD

I never found Gir cute. Then I read the comments and such about it, and I could kind of see it. I definitely found Zim cute though- that was part of my enjoyment of the show because it was cute characters doing disgusting, disturbing things. It was like some sort of paradox- you get the same effect in anime where a cute girl is laughing maniacally covered in her enemy's blood. I guess that has the same effect as shock humor? Where it adds amusement/shock because it's seemingly paradoxical (cute being good and disturbing being bad, mixed together into a delicious soup recipe. Or humor being good and the disturbing factor being bad, mixed together to create something entirely new and attractive.)

And now in the movie Enter the Florpus Gaz and Professor Membrane show affection to Dib, guess Jhonen changed his mind over time

Invader zim shipping is overrated ill admit I do have a soft spot for some ships but invader zim is the best without any pairings at all
