Created in 1999, aired in 2011.

If only Dib knew how to lie, he could have told Zim that he wasn't on the right planet and maybe he'd fly away xD

To be fair, Gaz is right to point out that not liking the school cafeteria food is a normal part of growing up.

No matter how clear the evidence of Zim being an alien Dib shares to a classmate, they pull a “You’re weird”

The "scared of BEANS, spaceboyyy?" scene still sends me into a chronic laughing fit.

Zim having Gir’s voice is weirdly fitting. LOL

Can we all appreciate how this didn't get labelled for YouTube kids?

I kind of miss how unhinged Dib was in the pilot 😭It honestly felt liked ZIM was more rational than him.

3:57 the best moment in the damn pilot

This might be weirdly one of the few examples of an animated pilot where the characters design in it are basically the same as they are in the show. All the characters basically look the same, with the only major change I see being Zims voice actor being changed.

This looks like something that would've originated from Newgrounds in the early 2000's

i really like that little moment between dib and zim where they’re complimenting each other’s gear they made. i wish they sort of played up that we’d actually be really good friends if we weren’t enemies thing more in the actual show without ever actually making them friends it fits with the whole grungy world they set up and them both being outcasts and stuff i think.

Hearing Billy wests voice come out zim feels so unnatural, you’re not the boy

wow thanks for posting this, man, Dib was scary back then with all his teeth. hes crazy

Not the dark havesting 😭 1:52

it is so surreal to hear zim voiced by anyone other than richard horvitz but you can really hear that either way they must have had a pretty specific vision in mind for what zim should sound like. "i love beans! I LOVE THEM." sounds almost exactly like the zim we're used to but other lines are basically just a stuffed-up Fry from Futurama lmao

The art style was still in JTHM mode. Lmfaoaooaoao

11:15 this was genuinely unsettling

This made Zim look actually competent and I like his voice acting though I kind of wish they kept that voice in the cannon series

I'm used to Dib's voice cracking from excitement every other time he opens his mouth. He's so chill here, and I love it just as much.
