Skipping the bridge in Taylor universe is ILLIGAL!!!!!!

side note (lol) - seeing how much you like Dress I recommend False God on SNL it’s one of her best live performances. ❤

Two Taylor reactions in two days???? Friend you are feeding us!!

Look What You Made Me Do is about her being “cancelled” following Kanye West’s betrayal. After he hijacked her MTV Music Awards speech by taking the microphone from her hand and saying that Beyoncé should have won the award, not her (Taylor was a 19-year-old kid, for God’s sake!), he was widely booed and criticised for it.
But she forgave him, and they eventually became friends (or at least she thought they had). In 2016, Kanye called her to talk about a lyric in his song Famous. He only told her part of it, and while she didn’t react negatively to what she heard, he never mentioned the line where he calls her “that b*tch.” He also asked her to promote the song, which she refused.
Then Kim Kardashian released an edited recording of that phone call, framing the narrative against Taylor. She also amplified the situation online, which sparked the whole “snake” narrative - people flooded Taylor’s comments with snake emojis.
Things escalated even further with the Famous music video, where Kanye appears in bed surrounded by naked, hyper-realistic figures of celebrities - including a figure resembling Taylor - which many people found disturbing and deeply disrespectful.
Taylor disappeared for almost a year, and when she returned, she reclaimed the narrative and embraced the snake imagery as the central theme of the Reputation era - in the music videos, visuals, and tour.
But years later, the full, unedited version of the call leaked, and it showed that Taylor had been telling the truth all along.
Look What You Made Me Do is her response to all of that: the betrayal, the media narrative, and reclaiming her voice and identity after everything she went through.

They say I did something bad.  She doesn’t say she did something bad.  The song is about the judgement of her by the media and trash talkers on the socials that caused her to basically disappear from public for a year.  They are burning the witches even if you aren’t one. This is about the indiscriminate judgement typically targeted at women for their relationship choices.  The allusions to the witch trials - people falsely accused and persecuted - and her embracing it saying light me up.  She is taking back her power and saying I can take it.  Or at least this is how I see it.

Please tell me you have reacted to the live performances of this album

Sorry to hear you skip the rest of New Year's Day! The idea behind the song is in the lines "I want your midnights, but I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's Day". It is easy to enjoy the fun and happy times with a partner, like at a New Year Eve party. But it is harder to find that person who will be cleaning up with you the morning after the party (the harder times).  In other words, somebody who is willing to take the bad times along with the good times is what she wants.

Getaway Car is about a rebound relationship - a getaway car escape from another relationship, but it’s never gonna work cause it’s just rebound. and she saying you should’ve known it wouldn’t work. it was just an escape from a bad relationship. if that makes sense someone might explain it better lol. it’s about her leaving Calvin Harris for Tom Hiddleston lol.

Midnights Loading 😮‍💨🔥🎶

New Year’s Day is the best closing track in her catalog.  the closer needs to sum up the album and put closer to the story.  NYD does that.  The entire album is about meeting someone at the worst time of her life.  Meeting them, getting to know them, dating, and falling in love. And at the end of the story, you have the closing track.  New Years Day.  She’s finally found someone to wake up with in the morning, clean up the mess, be there no matter what even though she knows it’s going to be a long road ahead.  But, don’t read the last page of the novel, but let me tell you the ending, I will stay no matter what.  I want your midnights and I’ll clean up the mess with you in the morning, together.  Ending the album with her in a loving and healthy relationship moving forward.  The closing tracks serve a purpose, they are meticulously chosen, and that is to sum up the album and give closure to it.  And arguably NYD does that the best of all her albums.   Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you.  And i will hold on to you.

think of 1989.  It is essentially about a relationship that was on/ off, and she was ok with it.  But they both kinda would end up back together hooking up.  At the end, is Clean.  At the end of the album, the closing track serves the purpose summing up and ending the story.  She’s clean.  He was a drug and at the end of the story, I think I am finally clean.  6 mos sober (end of the relationship) she’s over it, but doesn’t mean she doens’t miss it.  but she’s moving forward clean of him.  Onto the next era, Reputation.

So it Goes is so underrated. Glad you liked it. My fav song from that album

Getaway Car explanation: she was with Calvin Harris at the time but they were having issues (he said he would never work with her when asked in an interview even if they're dating, only to be then found out that Taylor wrote "This Is What You Came For" under a psuedo name so he, indeed, had already worked with her; dunno why he denied it lol) and as she said in the lyrics "i needed to leave him" so she was looking for a reason to do so. Enter Tom Hiddleston whom she got acquainted on met gala (?) and videos of them having fun and dancing in the event surfaced. She and Calvin broke up and she and Tom dated briefly. Tom seemed really taken by her but they split not long after. So Getaway Car talks about her and Tom being "Bonnie and Clyde" while Calvin chased them. She knew from the start she wasn't there for the long run and she indeed betrayed him in the bridge ("put the money in the bag and i took the keys—that was the last time you ever saw me").

Other songs that explored this trio's drama is "High Infidelity" and I think "Ivy"

Oh and context of the sound production is in 2016-2017 it was the PEAK of club for our generation! We were jamming to pop lyrics with a club dance music! People reacting to this album now call it dated sometimes but I’m so glad you still enjoyed it!! It evokes really good memories for me at the club swaying and grinding and not having a care in the world. That’s how she feels with this man!

Getaway Car is about her wanting to leave Calvin Harris but she didn’t know how to leave him so she met Tom Hiddleston at The Met Gala and she dated him after Harris for about a year. Therefore Tom Hiddleston  drove the Getaway Car away from Calvin Harris. But it didn’t last long with Tom because he was basically her rebound. He was a nice guy and she did feel bad about that. The Lore is pretty important to understanding her music deeply. But many of her songs you can enjoy without the lore… but Getaway Car isn’t one of them. lol love your reactions! 😬🫶🏼

I’m glad you got Call it What you Want.  it says a lot.  you don’t need to save me, but will you run away with me?  Remember at the beginning of the album “i did something bad”, how she’d fly them all around the world making them think they saved her.  Older guys for her to use.  The penultimate track you can tell the emotion that she has met someone who makes all that go away.  Loves her for who she is (Delicate, my reputation has never been worse so you must like me for me).  She was at her worst, and he helped her get to a better place.  The media will call the relationship whatever they will , but she knows what it is.  So they can call it what they want.  She wears a necklace with his name on it, not because he owns her, but because he’s the first to really know her.

You need to check out some live performances from Reputation and 1989. They are straight fire.

You will go crazy over the reputation stadium tour. She is fire live ❤️‍🔥

DYING watching the reaction to Dress 😂😂
