Who was your go-to beast to conquer Urth with in Primal Rage?

I got so good at this game, that I was able to 1 credit it with Talon. I couldn't get through the whole run without taking damage, but I was really close. Primal Rage and Killer Instinct were always my favorite fighting games, for when you got tired of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat lol but honestly I spent more on Primal Rage than any other game, just because it clicked with me (I prefer the hold the button specials) though some of the opponents had better ways to counter different move sets, like Sauron is very anti-air and Blizzard stalls you from anywhere. I really liked this game, and the video was very well done.

I just love how you go into the history and context of all the games. You deserve way more subs, my man. Excellent content always.

Vertigo was my favorite. Even had the toy growing up.

There was even a small Dragon Magazine article in the 1990s that gave monster stats to Blizzard, Vertigo and one of the other dinosaurs for the second edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. The hype for Primal Rage really was something.

My bother and I had several of the toys growing up. The character designs were the coolest thing to 10 year olds. We weren't fighting game enjoyers, but the zeitgeist of MK, SF, KI, and PR during the 90s meant you loved those games and their effect on pop culture no matter what.

Primal Rage is one of my fav fightning games, so much fun 😊

also kids it's not just inflation $20 as a kid is like $200 as an adult lol

I was absolute trash on every version of this game, but I loved the toys. Especially Talon and Vertigo.

Nice to see you added the date played to the receipt!

I tried so hard to pull off the finishers in this game. The only one I could ever get to work was Diablo.
Now that you said it ( The game is included on a Midway Treasure collection) I had to go check my old box of games in the basement and sure enough, I have it.

I might have to open up the PS2 and fire it up.

Loved this game so much as a kid. Great video going over the history and showing off the game. Glad to hear the Moo emulator shoutout as well since not a ton of people know about the security measures to begin with, and even fewer know that the community has recently found a way to get a better version running.

Lol, I love the adjustment for inflation on the production cost!!

I appreciate all the love and recognition you gave Primal Rage for its innovative mechanics along with the tough love on all of its flaws. I firmly believe if it wasn’t for its wonky motion inputs and clunky gameplay it would be more appreciated and talked about for sure. Primal Rage also had the hidden Human Volleyball and Bowling minigames but I think that was console only, I wonder if that’s where Midway got the idea for them in Deception & Armageddon?

I love the game’s aesthetic as you mentioned, it just oozes so much personality from the design, the stop motion, and the cabinet itself. I wish WB would do something with Primal but that’ll never happen considering how money MK takes in. Even if they did do something it most likely wouldn’t have stop motion and that was some of its charm, but seeing it unreal engine would be interesting.

I screamed when I saw the Primal Rage cabinet in the background of the Retrocade stage in MK11. That’s probably as much we will get sadly. I would even take a new Rampage game with Primal Rage characters for guests at this point or maybe convince Toho to let them sneak a few into the Godzilla DAMM remaster. 😉

I love these Arcade Economy videos! Really fun to watch and listen to, and it brings me back to being in high school and dropping $20 at the arcade

Primal Rage had such a great look and incredible style, but the controls took forever to get used to and were indecipherable in the moment in an arcade. Your video is making want to give it another shot. Great video as always!

@biorph8597 1 month ago

The rating was higher than I expected, given your description. Also if you keep with the theme I'd love to see Rampage.

Man, I really love this channel. Needed a video today.

I've been refreshing your YT page every day since you announced Primal Rage was next. I played this in the arcade against older kids a few times, and then rented the home version every weekend for probably 18 months in a row. So much nostalgia for this game. Great video!

Nice rundown of the game's history. It's one that fascinates me. I love the aesthetics of the game, but I could never get into the gameplay.
The input method always seemed a bit sluggish to me and I couldn't warp my head around it.
Can't wait for Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. I love that game.
