The whole cleaning thing is so real. I only ever really get my room clean if i have a burst of energy to get the room done. But that happens very rarely.

I have been diagnosed with ADHD twice (as a child and as an adult), but it amuses me that I was unable to sit through your intro and skipped to the first point “Can you wait patiently?”

Dear very late diagnosed people (over 40, 50, 60, 70 +) or those wondering why they never fit in and feeling turned off by this video.
It’s different for us. We will wait for the train, we might never miss deadlines, we might think that we never interrupt anyone (we do!)

WHY is it different?

because we’re the masters of masking. I was 60 when I got my diagnosis (AuDHD) and the unmasking has been very challenging. So please get support, you deserve it!

😂😂 the scraps of paper. Then you find it six months later. "Shit, I forgot to do that!" ~sets paper down in a spot where I think it will remind me~ find paper again 2 years later. "What was this even for?" 😂

Here’s my shortlist of signs you might not be an ADHDer:
1.) you can complete a task without a deadline
2.) you can pick up your phone to do a specific thing and then just do the thing — without immediately getting distracted and opening 7 other apps and only remembering the initial thing after setting the phone down (over and over)
3.) you can enter a different room for a reason and hold onto that reason while seeing the intended task through completion
4.) you can gather everything you need — all at once, in the same try — before you sit down

Rather than wait for the bus i used to walk to the next stop, take a look down the road and if i still couldn't see the bus I would walk to the next stop again. I usually could see it stop for people, giving me time to run to the next stop. Sometimes i would miss it tho, and have to walk the rest of the way, or take a different bus and start the game again.

I'm a diagnosed man, and for me, waiting for things like a buss, a green light etc. Actually feels great, I love waiting for a green light at the crossing even if theres no cars in a 30 mile radius, because it's the only time in my life when i don't feel guilty for every second that passes by.

This video reassures me of my autism. I watch those videos of "you might/might not be autistic if..." and I'm like "yep, yep, yep, sometimes, yep, no, yep yep." and with this it's "not at all, nope, How would that even work?..."

This makes me feel more comfortable with the idea that I'm not just glamming onto a fad.

I seem to be a very patient person, but I'm starting to think that might be hyperfocus. It's amazing how patient you can seem when you've got eleventybillion daydreaming possibilites inside your head! Daydreaming hyperfocus is real!

I liked that you mentioned that hyperactivity can be more internal. On the outside, I think I come across as pretty chill and calm but on the inside my brain is thinking a million things at once. I often wake up with a song going round and round in my head, I have trouble sometimes getting to sleep because my brain just won't shut up and I zone out a lot. It can be good because I think it makes me able to process and analyse a lot of things but I also often get into anxious thought spirals.
