Tony Joe White released 'Polk Salad Annie' as a 45 single back in 1968 and it was a huge radio hit! It's a sin that he hadn't performed at the Grand Ol' Opry until 2018. Shame on the Opry.

Sadly he dies a month later October 24th 2018. Remembering his song "Rainy Night In Georgia" Many recorded it, but it don't feel right unless Tony is singing it. He wrote many songs others recorded and made hits. He was from North Louisiana a town called Goodwill, in Webster Parish. He was around during the later years of the Louisiana Hayride show, and lived close by. RIP Tony.
