20+ years later, probably over 100 watches and I still cry like a baby

Mother: What do you want for Christmas?
35 year old me: I want to be Aragorn.
Mother: I've told you for the last 20 years that's impossible.
Me: Alas, that these evil days should be mine.

Aragorn and Sam. Two variations of what it is about to be a man. Quiet confidence, courage, loyalty and bravery in doing what has to be done, rather than clout, insecurity and aggression.

Samwise doesn't want a medal or award. He gets a life worth living with Rosie.

In the books, when Sam decides to carry Frodo up the mountain I LOVE the line Tolkien wrote..."his will was set, and only death would break it" ❤

On that day, beyond the courage of men, there were two Hobbits. The first to charge the Gates of Mordor after Aragorn!

Aragorn is who every man should aspire to be like

The true hero of the story... Sam. Oh, my dear Sam. He never abandoned Frodo, even at the end of all things... always there, by his side. If that isn't the true definition of friendship, I don't know what is. The best story and the best fantasy trilogy of all time.

When the Hobbits are the first off the line and into battle, you have to follow their lead.

I kinda feel like before the charge, Aragorn meant what he said, not for Gondor, or the Shire or the whole of Middle Earth. Just for his friend, for Frodo.

My favourite thing about this scene is the first two to follow Aragorn into battle are Merry and Pippin.

Alright, fine, I will watch LOTR, again.

"The stories will say Frodo never would've made it without his good friend, Sam.."

@rodneybrewer1965 11 months ago

For Frodo, one hell of a line, with Aragon's speech and Samwise sayin i can't carry it but I can carry you 😢

@jakehoffman2037 1 month ago

Do not forget that Sauron is trying to stop Aragorn from initiating the final battle. He reaches out to him in a final effort to stop him and control him, but Aragorn's love for his friends and his desire of a free Middle Earth ring true like a just leader.

One of the best subtle details? The Elven we hear as he looks back at everyone?
It's Sindarin, and what they are saying is this:

"If by my life or death I can protect you, I will."

Aragorn remembers yet the oath he made first of all. And he has not yet broken an oath, not once in ths story.

"For Frodo."

Everyone needs at least one friend like Sam

Food exemple that you can be clueless about things that happening but still feel what you need to feel ! That proves the greatness of dialogues, music, cinematography

@silencedlight 11 months ago (edited)

In my final moments as I faced down the horde in front of me, where many previous battles left thoughts of my wife and child that I could die protecting, I was left only with the odd thought "Who in the hell is Frodo?"
