Correction: Some of the Linebacker configurations have hand actuators, so my comments on that in the video should earn an asterisk.

People seem to constantly forget: Theoretically any/every Omnimech can have hands. They're omnipod configurable.

If there's one thing that bugs me about the Linebacker, it's the name. A linebacker in football is usually a huge beefy dude who's going to smash into you, not a fast-mover who's going to hit you from downtown. The mech really ought to be called the Quarterback.

I always liked this little guy. Feels like it has a bit more character and flair than the "I'm kind of just good at everything" Timberwolf with its focus on speed.

When you need a heavy that can outshoot anything smaller, and can run and out maneuver anything larger it doesn’t want to fight, nothing beats the Linebacker.

Plus the D may be considered a war crime among friends.

The Linebacker dances very close to the "that speed is not used for this weight class for a good reason" line.
But compared to the Circada, Assasin, Banshee, Charger and many more toothless designs it has the advantage of Clan tech.

I don't like Clan mechs in general, but the Linebacker won me over. Lots of fun in the Harebrained Schemes game playing an SRM missile boat one. Very able to rush in somewhere and cause the enemy problems. The one drawback - how incredibly bad those legs look, the souls of the engineers are wincing.

The Linebacker is basically a fat Puma or Pouncer that trades the targeting computer for more armor, less heat issues and a tiny bit of missile pokery. That's not necessarily a bad place to be, but at approaching triple the cost I can't really recommend it on anything but looks – 'cuz it does look pretty sexy.

Oh I love the linebacker. The replacement for the mad cat that didn't quite work out 🙂. 65 Toner cannot do the job of a 75.

This is the Clan mech I think would benefit from the XXL engine the most. Going 6/9 at 65tons means your engine is gonna be huge, and using the XXL engine really does save a lot of weight even with all its downsides.

Also most configurations have hand actuators, so riping arm off works just fine

Honestly I forget the Linebacker is a Clan mech. The name just doesn't sound like most other Clan mechs so I always think it is an Inner Sphere unit instead.
