Only 1% of golfers get down to a scratch handicap and at one point I thought I might never get there. After being stuck at 4-handicap for just over a year I overhauled my golf to make sure I improved and finally got down to that scratch handicap.

The fact that most people often aren't actually doing what they think they are is what makes golf so difficult both to teach and to learn/play. It's also a key reason why a particular coach can effectively help one person but maybe not the next. "Keeping the club in front of you" made perfect sense to me...I added club head speed and improved consistency. But for others that clearly comes across as nonsense (there are videos criticizing it) whereas another description of the same principle might make sense.
That said, the teachable moment for me was your the math on 5 foot putts. I need to substantially increase my practice on that...I'm nowhere near breaking even, lol.
