Just as the "heavy breakdown" starts is the line "Did I give you what you came here for," aimed at all the "metal gatekeepers." Seems very apt for one half of yous 😉 Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

I find it so weird that people have to be able to put something in a specific box and definitively categorize it in order to enjoy it. If they can't, their brain melts and they feel like they have to dislike it. It's music. Does it matter what category of music it is? I don't think it matters, but whatever.

As a #Metalhead since 1983 I can tell you that ST is definitely METAL. Metal is a style of music with many genres. ST just happen to play them within a single song.

I fear that if you are so critical and closed minded you probably shouldn’t be a part of a reaction channel

She's so excited about it but he seems to spend so much of this reaction just griping and making little comments. It hurts my heart when I show someone something I love and they basically just shit on it instead of simply saying  "Maybe this isn't for me"

“Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. Music is for everyone.” - Vessel

Fellow male here, favorite band since tool. Rock genres have been number 1 for me since I can remember. Sleep token just is a band that doesn’t give you heavy break down or nasty guitar rifts because that’s what gets ”metal fans” going. They give you different flavors you didn’t know you wanted and keeps you wanting more.

Wife, keep the open mind to music life’s better that way! Mr. Husband whats your go to bands?

This guy is so jaring!😴😴

It's crazy how people put them in a category when the band themselves didn't..They are their own category..Just like Falling In Reverse. He's part of the people that they call out ones that think they can gatekeep..

"They're a chick band"

Not all men are emotionally crippled. Sleep Token connect on that level. Probably why more women seem drawn to them...

Hey my guy, this one’s for you 🙌🏼

It's just good music. Plain and simple. I grew up listening to all kinds of music. My dad was an old school metal head and my mom listened to Spanish music. My older sister was all about pop so i had alot of that in my household as well. All my friends throughout jr high and high school only listend to rap/hip hop. And just so happens ST gives me all of that. Sometimes all in 1 song lol I have an appreciation for all kinds of music and ST does a little of all of it really well. So yea. That's why I'm a fan of these guys.

I gave up after ten seconds. "Get heavy people" was enough. Is that the only type of music you like? Do you not find that limiting? Embarrassing even? And I'm not saying this as a Sleep Token fan, but someone with eclectic tastes who finds joy in all music - as long as it's good.

"Tell me did i give you what you came for" when the breakdown happens is a direct callout to the metal heads who want to hear the same blast beats in every song but then talk about wasted talent. Cringe take that only chicks like them too, listen to lyrics sometime and open your mind.

I listen to Knocked Loose, Slaughter To Prevail, Lorna Shore, Brand of Sacrifice semi regularly and I also absolutely love Sleep Token. The whole "I'm a stoic, manly metalhead who can't allow myself to listen to anything that has even a hint of melody or a different genre other than metal or else I'll be outed as that guy in the metal community" is getting really f**kin old.

Can the metal elitists of old just grow up. Genuinely more sick of this than you are of hearing Sleep Token repeat lyrics. You're beating a dead horse that's so predictable at this point it's just sad.

Anyways, now that I've gotten that rant out of the way - there was at least one person in this reaction who had an open mind about the non heavy elements of the band and I enjoyed hearing that person's take on it.

Bag of rocks he is.

Music is art, art doesn't need labels, orderly pastes and rules to be appreciated and moving, it just need to be. Creativity dies when chained to meaningless little boxes. Art will always be above any constraint of genre.
P.s the girl is a cutie, hope she lives her best life ❤

She deserves an award for being married to that guy. Wow.

I really hope you don't go though live with such negativity. Seems miserable...
The only thing that you actually got right (probably meant it another way though) is that Sleep Token is musical theater.
And it kinda is - on a very high level, telling a somewhat continous story with beautifully written lyrics and music.
Most "metalheads" I've met are actually quite open to more "different sounding" music and they are surprisingly emotionally intelligent and care about what the music they are listening to expresses - you sure as heck aren't...

As a 34 year old male - I like this band, because it doesn't sound like a generic band with the same riffs, melodies, rythms - again and again... Vessel is an educated musician, which shows in his music. Unusual chords and chord progressions, playing with time signatures, mixture of  genres, very melodic, beautiful lyrics - and because that's not enough he has probably one of the most musical drummers alive in his band. If you listen to their discography from the beginning and reach "Euclid" without getting at least a warm fuzzy feeling (I was crying - not ashamed to admit that...) you are dead inside...
Lastly... Your channel description says: "A former Musician"... I'm sorry, but I wonder why...

No, it's not really metal, because Vessel/Sleep Token have never called themselves metal, other people give them that title.

Vessel writes whatever he wants some often that incorporates heaviness/metal into it. The beauty of his work far surpasses standardized genres which limit creativity
