In this episode of Fact Hunt, we dive into 5 games that were never intended to be sequels – but ended up that way anyway! Whether it’s bizarre re-skins, last-minute name swaps, or games that bear no resemblance to the original, we’re talking about some fiddled follow-ups that had no business calling themselves sequels.

Special thanks as always to Dodgy Kebaab for helping write and edit today's video: ‪@dodgykebaab‬

And yes, before you ask, I'm "That Guru Larry" that was on TV 😂

The sad thing about Contra Force/Arc Hound is that it's a pretty interesting game that got screwed over by it's JP cancellation. It was designed around a custom Konami mapper chip similar to the one used by Castlevania 3, which couldn't be used for the US version. This was due to Nintendo needing to provide all the cart hardware here as part of their strategic market stranglehold, vs. Japan where such restrictions didn't apply.

The game is infamous for flicker and horrific slowdown, especially in 2 player mode. The understanding is that switching from Konami's own custom designed board to a cheaper off the shelf one provided by Nintendo is what doomed the game to have these problems (or at least made them worse.)

"3 years ago", everyone is here now. Huh. 1:42 Big Trouble In Little China:
Every time it gets mentioned I feel like repeating that piece of conversation between Jay and Rich of RedLetterMedia, discussing the John Carpenter filmography: "Big Trouble In Little China clearly isn't the greatest movie ever made, but the whole time you're watching it, it feels like you're watching the greatest movie ever made." Man, is that SO true.
