Same issue, same engine. Haven’t pulled it apart yet. Question, how does the little cap become uncaptured?

I believe that This is the exact problem I have.  The governor arm does not adjust with speed. .  I cleaned up everything, got a new carbuerator, adjusted the tension mechanism and never could get the governor to move much more than a few millimeters movement with rpm.  I sort of thought the weigts were gummed up.  I have a John deere LT 155 and it is about 22 years old and bought it from a neigbor a year ago.  Thanks for the video and bet my problem is exactly what you show.  Problem is for me I'm 75 and things are more difficult.  Guess I will use it without governor for a while then tackle pulling the motor off.   Thanks

I pushed that pin down to the bottom between the springs that seems like where is should sit not on top of the weights.

hi craig, is the governor shaft that the governor sets down on replaceable? mine has sheared off 1/4 inch from the base, not enough to hold the pin in place. hate to see a good motor ruined by such a small piece.

Can anyone tell me the part numbers or where a can buy all the components? Also, there is a grove on the pin it all sits on like there should be a snap ring in there to hold it all in place??

I had a governor on a k series implode I feel you pain.  To do the k series you gotta take the crank and cam out though :(
