Agree with you that these are things that can be fixed. I put in 30+ hours into this already and have been really enjoying it regardless, but the upcoming patches will have really essential qol changes and would be good for players to wait for. Just wish these were implemented on release instead of needing player feedback for such basic things.

I came across Maria IV: A Cozy Botanical a few days ago and I’m honestly hooked. I spent hours decorating and completely lost track of time :) You should definitely consider featuring it sometime.

Played since release and happy that they actually addressed a lot of the concerns from the community in a recent announcement which will be implemented in the next few patches

I have to say a lot of the quality of life problems that you are mentioning in this video are things that the developers were well aware of in the first game and they should have rectified them in this follow up game. Things like not explaining and lack of, or bad tutorials were present in the first game and were major problems for players so they can't say that they weren't aware of this problem so to see them ignoring this in game 2 is a bit of a warning to me. Not sure I will pick up this game. I bought the last one with all DLC's and was constantly having to look things up and the grind got very tedious quickly. I gave it a solid try but haven't ever felt the need to go back and play again like I do with games like Stardew Valley and the My Time At... series (both Portia and Sandrock were/are brilliant and excellent examples of well balanced gameplay). Thank you for featuring this game and sharing the gameplay with us. I might pick it up on a heavy discount but at full price, it's a gamble I am not willing to buy into.

I’ve played a lot of GK1, and I’m seeing a lot of the same weaknesses they had in the first game: tutorials are mediocre at best, crafting is much more hands-on than in other games in the genre, it can be helpful to have a guide to sort of plan ahead when you could easily save a week’s time by preparing for next link on the quest chain even before you receive it, objects can’t be easily moved once built.

I liked the story enough to optimize around them in the first game, so I bet I’ll enjoy this one just as much. Maybe even more, since it seems like this graveyard keeper walks faster than the last one!

However, I don’t feel an urgent need to play GK2 right away, so I’ll probably end up waiting until I can buy it on sale like I did with the last installment. 😅

Thanks for the review! I’ll definitely hold off for now. I appreciate your transparency as always!

I had the same overwhelming and confusing experience with gk1! I liked how polished everything looked in the gk2 demo, but it mostly convinced me to wait for reviews. So now it's on my wishlist! The fantasy of running your own graveyard is so fun I hope those updates come soon

I've played a lot of GK1 and GK2 personally (hel I've streamed a lot of both) and honestly I'd say to anyone looking to get GK2 to wait a lil while before playing it at least, currently there's a constant stream of hotfixes and you never know what's gonna break next so it's best to wait till it's in a more stable spot imo

It's funny how I consider Graveyard Keeper a cozy game even tho the themes have nothing cozy about them. A lot of games we consider cozy even tho they have insanely heavy subject matter. Like Animal Crossing you literally have a Hawaiian shirt wearing landlord or in my most anticipated game Loftia the Earth below became so polluted that humanity migrated to the sky. It's weird, but I really like thinking about those kinds of things :D

I'm loving this game.  I was super hooked on Travellers Rest lately, but took a break and now I can't stop playing this one.

I played Graveyard Keeper with no DLCs and it was definitely easier to manage. Having played so much of it going in to 2 wasn't too bad for me, but I can imagine it would be incredibly confusing playing it for the first time. After playing it on launch vs now after a few patches it feels like so many hours were wasted playing a frankly inferior version of the game. It has been such a fun game to sink time into regardless. With farming sims and similar kinds of games I want more complexity in systems like farming and crafting, it's one of the reasons that Rune Factory 4 is one of my favorite games ever and Graveyard Keeper 2 in particular scratches that itch for me. The setting and the humor is a highlight for me too.

I played on launch day and put it down after I kept having to rebuild my factory desks. I wasn't having fun anymore, so I decided to wait until the updates drop. I'll go back around November.

Considering I've gotten lag on my (semi) beefed up PC with things like getting a lot of faith from sermons, i can ONLY IMAGINE how it runs on switch 2.

Bugs Prevent game from being played on Switch 2 I am stuck on my livestream playthrough until they Patch the Time Freeze Bug

Agreed so much on the original Graveyard Keeper

Yeah I was confused with the resurrection part and also insanity. I like the game though. The first one was fun and I actually finished it.

It plays really nicely on the Steam Machine. (I have not tried it on Steam Deck yet) it does have a strange black screen issue when I'm shutting it down though,  but very few issues during playing. **also, did you say you can earn the thumbs ups by liking this video, or did i misunderstand? 😂😂

i was so hyped for this game, i love gk1, and in the beginning i loved sequel. unfortunately inspiration points and fights were a bit too much for me, so much stuff being locked behind certain inspiration perks, which means you need to grind like crazy for faith, and i do not enjoy fighting at all. i know its a big grinding game, it seems its not for me tho :( i went back to gk1 and im having a blast

Thank you for the video! I played GK1 for the first time recently and couldn't finish it. By the end, it really started feeling like the design model was basically "friction for the sake of friction". It was not relaxing for me, nor interesting or fun. So I'll probably pass on GK2, and I appreciate your honest review.

You don’t need to give the trader fish to be able to trade. I ignored fishing for a bit and could trade.
Thank you for the video.
