Welcome to the next stage of my cycling trip around the world.
After over a month in Mongolia, I'm closing another chapter and heading to the country I've dreamed of since the beginning of this journey—JAPAN 🇯🇵
But getting to Tokyo is just the beginning of the problems.
I have all my belongings with me, a large box with a bicycle, and one specific plan: to meet Andrzej and get to northern Japan as quickly as possible. From there, we want to begin another great journey—crossing the country by bike from north to south.
On the first day, however, Japan quickly shows us that before we start pedaling, we have to win a small logistical war.
What will you see in this episode?
🇲🇳 Last morning in Mongolia — packing, airport, and saying goodbye to the country I already know I want to return to
✈️ Flight Ulaanbaatar → Tokyo — the bike weighs 23 kg and for the first time, everything goes smoothly
🇯🇵 First minutes in Japan — Narita, heated toilets, and the first encounter with a completely new world
🤝 Meeting with Andrzej — after a joint trip in Nepal, we're starting another adventure
🚲 Two bikes in large boxes — will the Japanese railway even let us travel with them?
🚆 First attempt to get north—trains, toll gates, transfers, and the gigantic Tokyo station
📦 Hour after hour, we drag crumbling boxes through the city
🚕 No one wants to take our bikes—until we finally try to squeeze them into the car
🍜 First Japanese food—and the first lesson that in a new country, you have to learn everything from scratch
---
In the morning, I gaze at the Mongolian steppe for the last time.
A few hours later, I'm standing in the middle of Tokyo.
That's what I love most about this trip.
One day, yurts, steppe, and emptiness.
The next, one of the largest cities in the world, thousands of people, trains, neon signs, and completely new rules of the game.
And I'm a beginner again.
I don't know where to buy a ticket.
I don't know if they'll take my bike.
I don't know where I'll sleep.
But that's where a new adventure begins.
---
🧭 WHAT'S NEXT FOR ME:
The original plan was simple—get to Hokkaido as quickly as possible and begin crossing Japan from north to south.
This evening, however, Andrzej and I are sitting down, analyzing the situation, and… changing the plan.
Tomorrow we'll show you what we've come up with.
And I'll just say one thing:
things are going to happen.
