What do you think of found footage?

It’s so cool to go back to the beginning of the movie and notice all the pictures where Alice is very clearly in the background. But since there’s more important things in the picture to draw our attention, we don’t even notice her. Her family didn’t see her there, and even we the audience don’t see her there. It just makes her story even more tragic and lonely

The most haunting part is the implication that she’s left to haunt the house after they move away.

GREAT reaction, by the way

The jump scare was good, but the neighbor reveal gave me such goosebumps I had to pause the movie and run out of the room. I've never done that for a scary movie ever.

lake mungo is such a beautiful, horrifying, heartbreaking movie about grief. there are a few theories about how/why alice drowned (the brother/father/neighbors did it, spirit of the desert, etc.) but as her monologue says, i think it was her own fate/ghost that killed her. if she was meant to die in a different way, like a car accident or something, then that's what she would have seen at lake mungo. but because her corpse was bloated and waterlogged, she had to drown.

what an incredible film. it's a more recent watch for me, but it really changed how i view narrative storytelling and character development. joel anderson was also an executive producer and script editor for late night with the devil, which i have...conflicting feelings about, but it's so great to see that he's still working in the industry in one way or another. i'd love to see another film by him in any capacity. thanks for your reaction! :)

this might be my favorite horror movie. it's not scary in any traditional sense, but there's just a certain unease and sad feeling lingering the whole movie. the end credits are heartbreaking. Nowadays there are many movies about grief. Lake Mungo was one of the first to do it, and I still think its the best.

“This movie’s depressing” oh yes it is.

I really love one really dark message of the movie. Everyone seeing when it's revealed that Alice was there all along says "How did nobody notice that."
People see things every day that they don't notice or don't want to notice.

One of my favorite mockumentaries

Hopefully you watched through the full end credits.

9:56 I don't know where he is from, but it's part of the Jewish mourning tradition to cover all the mirrors at the deceased's home, as well as at the mourners' homes, for the week of the Shiv'ah. One of the explanations for this is to keep from seeing the dead in a mirror

Some twisted movies like that one, for you to get haunted by:
- The Coffee Table
- Soft & Quiet

Insanely good movie and honestly sad as fuck

I think the theory about the brother being the killer seems plausible. The bruises he had that were never explained, him being the only one who never questions whether Alice may not actually be dead and the mother kept saying how close the siblings were, but Matthew never brings it up

Just found you. Just subbed. Great reaction

I have a theory that the brother convinced her to breath underwater so he can steal her identity. Or he said "hey alice lets play shopping my butt is the card reader and your nose is the credit card" then mid swipe he farted causing her to go into convulsions and dying.

Genuine question: do you think heckling at inconsequential details of a scene (as they are being explained in said scene) is good commentary?

oh hes trying to be funny

extermely dissrespectful reaction

"Ararat" is the name of a mountain in what is today near the border of Armenia and Turkey.  It's famous because it is allegedly the resting place of the mythical Noah's Ark. As such, throughout Christendom the name gets enchanted, and then reused like so many names in the Bible.
