The pure aura of the thumbnail drew me close

The Chakram fulfills the most important design criteria of any weapon: It makes a cool as hell sound when you use it.

dont let this man obtain 6 jungle spores and 9 stingers

FYI just about the physics:

1. A lighter chakram will spin faster, causing the edge to act more like a blade. I believe this is part of why the lighter chakra had an easier time cutting through the mat. Relevant physics: moment of inertia / rotational inertia.

2. The direct hit with a chaka didn't deal as much damage to the mat, likely because it absorbed the hit and caused it to stop spinning, where as a glancing hit continues to spin and cut. Think about using a chef's knife: when you pull to slice, vs bringing the knife down on something.

3. This was identified in the video, but a thinner chakram applies the cutting force over less surface area. This helps with cutting.

So it seems like the spininess of this weapon is more important than the total energy used to launch it. A glancing hit works better against armor than a direct hit, I imagine a hit on something without armor is devastating either way. There will be interesting optimization between lift, rotational speed, distance, and damage.

Very interesting weapon.

I looked into chakram on a whim last year and was disappointed by the lack of quality footage. Super happy to see this in depth demonstration

The opening shot with the camera being hit is terrifying.

Remember, it's faster to switch to your chakram than reload your crossbow

Edit: Thanks for the love everyone and of course, thank you Archaic for such an awesome demonstration of what seems to be such a simple yet elegant weapon. I wish all of you the best!

I love the honesty. Not ashamed to show the misses. We all can’t be perfect. Amazing display.

Interesting stuff. The fact that it's a wide projectile that's still very hard to see makes it quite scary.

Finally someone can do the 1 finger toss right

Imagine the effort this guy put in going and finding them after throwing.

First thing I thought when I saw this video was Xena: Princess Warrior. The chakram was her main weapon in the show.

NGL got a bit of a chill seeing how well they flew.

The whistling sound they make while flying is terrifying

Imagine walking out on the battlefield, 7 feet tall, built like a rock, wielding dual axes, only to get your head cut off by a frisbee.

10:39 That throw's inertia getting the next chakram into effectively throwing position was slick as hell

This guy ain’t lying when he meant forgtten. This is a weapon every Indian inherently knows, it is lord Krishna’s divine weapon. And yet after countless hours of media depicting it I had never seen one actually being thrown before. Impressive dude ngl. They’d have loved you at Kurukshetra 5000 years back lol.

Feel kinda sorry for the fellas on the receiving end that tried to catch the pretty shiny frisbees.

Bro doesn't need a lawnmower if he practises with chakrams often enough

The sound alone is spooky, the results of it hitting must be horror.
