I absolutely agree on the Manon jacket price and lining add on. That’s what stopped me from jumping on it. I think I’ll wait to find a trench pattern at the thrift store to hack into a cropped jacket.

I agree on the Manon jacket. Having to pay separately for the lining is a cheek.

100% agree the lining should have been included in the Manon. I love the look of it but it's a lot...good thing we're going into summer here so I can wait and see if a future sale might make it more tempting.

I totally agree with you about the price of the Tilly and the Buttons new jacket pattern. I really wanted it for myself and had it been available in printed version I might have bought it. But to buy and then print and tape together No!

I actually did purchase an unlined trench, the Prado, from Liesl and Co. It is close to $19 USD. I did get it at 40 or 50% off on Black Friday sale. 2 reasons for my purchase, 1 I had a double faced waterproof cotton fabric which was so heavy, there’s no way I could sew through all that fabric. 2 she tells you how to line your coat if you desired. The coat turned out beautifully and I wore it on a London trip. I felt warm and fancy!

I agree on your pattern choice. I haven't been buying patterns for a year or so but bought the On Repeat Woven Shirt recently. It seems really versatile and i think it may fit me better than other woven t-shirts I've tried.

That was fun! I love looking at patterns, even if they wouldn’t be my choice. Sometimes, it gives me ideas like you with the stripes. I skipped the On Repeat tee because I have a well-fitting woven tee pattern, but I might consider it, later. Happy sewing! 😊—Deborah

Love the blouse you are wearing btw. Agree regarding including the lining in the jacket. Like the pattern you chose to buy. Truthfully I should probably buy no new patterns ever as I am 67 and have a stash of Burda magazines as well as patterns, paper and digital. It also takes me awhile to dial in the fit so buying a new pattern is work for me but I am not an expert sewist and even if I was I often learn things from new patterns which is wonderful and part of the sewing experience.

Maison Fauve released kits when lauching the sailor top, with special fabric that had the stripes 90 degrees from the selvedge, and a solid color at the top and botton from the two selvedges. It was too expensive for me but I agree it looks veey good.

Great pattern recap. I agree with you on pattern $, maybe it's the drop in $. I tend to wait for them to go on sale, and I gather together my purchase and send them off for printing. I know that takes planning, but I am never sure until I see the fabric.
I am with you on remaking the pattern. I take a lot of time to get the fit, why go through that again it you can just modify the pattern. ❤

Would love to see your re-styled woven top make. Your comment on halter tops made me think of Casey from Pattern Scout. She’s a huge fan of Nippies. While she’s not sponsored by them, she loves to give them shout outs (which is always helpful when you are on the fence). Also, I love doing a knit scrap busting tee. Someone had de-stashed a bunch of quality solid color knits at a thrift store, and I hated wasting any of that fabric so pieced my TNT Big 4 pattern numerous times. Love your “honest” pattern reviews, btw.

I had missed the Hoxton release - it looks soooo cute, thanks for sharing!

And yeah... TATB separates the jacket from the lining and it's so frustrating! They did it with another jacket a while back 😑 I'm also sure that both of their samples have linings so it seems necessary to me.

I did buy the Noe dress and top because I loved the shape and back detail and I have a RTW dress that is similar but I've never gotten around to copying so I know I love the style and will reach for it. I think it has TNT potential for me.

I agree 200% about the Tilly and Button pattern and I may have to break down and buy the on Repeat pattern because I don’t have a woven tee pattern 😊

You found some really cool patterns!! 21 british pounds for a pattern is insane. That’s $40 CAD. Most pattern companies have put their prices up slightly and I get it, but that’s just going to push me to re-use the patterns I already own.

I have heard that many people find that the On Repeat pattern runs large. Check the finished garment measurements for ease. It will tent on a larger chest unless you use something like a viscose/rayon. Sometimes the front will turn out shorter. I plan to make this top because I have seen how nice it looks on multiple women after the tweaks.
