After Sydney said the ad spoke for itself and the interviewer continued to press, Sydney's blink rate went up. There may not have been a lot going on her face but those blinks were saying she was getting ready. Loved the analysis, as usual!

That fake reporter’s smile is something else 😁

The reporter seems to be a person I try to avoid in daily life.

It’s so ridiculous that people automatically jump to good jeans(genes) referring to her ethnic background, when the pun was just about her GOOD LOOKS. They could do an ad for any good looking woman with any skin color and use the same pun. People are so hyper focused on stupid shit that they can’t think for themselves anymore.

Soon as I saw this interview, my first thought was “I wonder what Spidey will make of it.” I was not disappointed!

The reporter is shrinking into her seat so much, shoulders pulled all the way up as the questions get more pointed, that it's kind of comical

I love how scientific and neutral your analysis always come across. Love your channel!

“So yeah, great detective work Spidey” was so funny. Especially because you laughed at it.

33:40 This is a total WARNING LOOK ⚠️ It's telling someone to back off, don't go there.

@GinkoYoki234 10 months ago

Sydney was there to talk about the movie. Notice how many times she tried to steer the interview in that direction after being asked about the ad. Finally, she had to firmly close the door on that conversation route with that non-answer answer which said, "I done talking about the ad. If I have something to say, I'll say it. Let's continue with talking about the movie."

It was a master-class in verbal sparring with a person she knew was there to not just focus on the reason for the interview... to "stir the pot" as we say it where I live.

I would LOVE to see your analysis of the reporter interviewing her. Her body language is very telling too. How she slouches in her chair, how her shoulders are high, how she avoids eye contact a lot etc..

@Ronnell-m9g 10 months ago

I think that when she was talking about really not having her phone on set, she was aware of what people were saying and had to put her phone away probably both physically and mentally, in order to be able to focus on her work.

Never mind, Sydney Sweeney, let's analyze the person doing the interview.

@dogman-q3i 10 months ago

that female interviewer was so disingenuous and slimy. I wouldnt have been able to hide my disgust for her if I were being interviewed.

@sloftin 10 months ago

That reporter was trying to set her up, and I understand why Sydney was pausing and being careful with her words because it could result in her cancellation depending on how the clip would be used.

@corman2332 10 months ago

She was obviously implying that doing a jean ad isn't a big deal so of course she was surprised. Her answer made perfect sense to me immediately, so I definitely don't think it's a non-answer.

@staind.raindrop 10 months ago (edited)

I wonder how people would react if Sydney had responded with curiosity about why people thought she was suggesting that her genes are superior. The ad narrator simply said that she has "great" genes/jeans, not "the best" ones. Where did people get the whole "superior" idea from? Because there are a LOT of great genes in the world, and they're in all different shapes, sizes, forms and colors.

23:52 Interviewer: "If you don't confess your sins and ask for forgiveness, no one will go and watch your new movie."
24:08 Sydney: "yeah, I don't care."

@robinogle974 10 months ago

I thoroughly ENJOY the "ted-talk" parts you add in, its the primary reason I watch you, the other portion of why is that you're entertaining and charming to listen to, plus your logic makes sense to me, and as someone going to school to get my major in social work/psychology, it's extremely valuable for me! :) I'd watch a WHOLE 30 min video(s) on an education style video, where we learn terms and phrases, and really hone in on this art.

The reporter was trying to use obsequious/apologetic tone and mannerisms while making veiled accusations (regardless if she thinks the accusation is true, she is phrasing it with assumed guilt). That is incredibly galling and there is an impulse to not give them the answer they want for offering the offense. The interviewer didn't have to frame it from implied presumed guilt. The "I am going to give you the opportunity to address this," is something a teacher says to a kid they know is guilty of something to make confession less intimidating... which is condescending to an adult. A lot of how she spoke came off like she wasn't talking to a peer, but talking down to her. When Sydney gave that RDJ stare you pointed out, I knew exactly how she felt, and I dont blame her.
