I agree 100% with you. My trick is to just use the mic’s as recorders especially if it is on an elastic sleeve on. A house mic & not use the receiver just as you explained. I’ve learned the same way!….lol I just download the 32 bit float recordings & sync in post. No one talks about this problem for weddings.

1000% agree. People buy a 5k camera and then use a $200 mic.

I do use wireless, but only the pro units on the UHF range, and I only use them for backup from my recorder to my cameras. You may ask why? In my locality, wind is a big problem, and inbuilt camera mics are useless for syncing. So i go from my line out on my recorders to my camera, giving high quality sound from my 2 muffed mics in front of the celebrants speaker. The closest camera has a muffed shotgun as well, plus I have a Tascam DR-10L on the groom.

Therefore all cameras have a clean sound input plus running 3 recorders.

Many videoguys stick there wireless go- DJI 2.4Ghz mics directly on the mic also transmitting a 2.4Ghz, plus all the wifi and phones transmitting 2.4Ghz. This is why I don't use or recommend them as they do interfere, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day they will. But many people don't want to hear it! Because these new cheap mics are convienent. But mark my words, one day they WILL be a problem. Experienced it! Don't be that guy!

oh man, haven't run into DJ problems yet, but I see where you're coming from and 1000% agree i never want to even be put in that situation! Thanks for the tips Ross and appreciate you putting this together!!

You make so really good points man🔥, thank you for sharing!
The only time I would say when it might be fine is letter readings and first looks.
I have an aux audio spliter for the left and right channels for my a7siii where I can use both the on board mic and wireless at the same time without merging the audio.
Keep up the good work with the channel you're killing it!

🔥🔥🔥 points

The only issue I’ve run into using this method and with the rode pros is if the main button gets pushed down accidentally on the receiver, it can turn off and if you aren’t monitoring you wouldn’t know. There’s also no way to stop that button from enabling on/off in the rode software.

Im near to video can i record audio with the rode wiireless pro without plugging into the djs stuff

I love your channel, but what happens when the battery on the road expires, at least with the tascam do 10 pro. You can change the batteries and you'll get longer usage out of them, something to work.

Have you tried the new Hollyland Lark Max 2? So tiny and amazing!

preaching to the choir. your acting is cracking me up.

Remember when you got on who is Matt Johnson for being negative about the RWP . “Love the quirks, make them work for you” what a joke
