EJAE getting rejected due to her age as a KPOP IDOL and than later being the lead singer in the most successful KPOP song made by a Girl Idol group is just pure cinema

SHE ALSO WROTE THIS SONG. They heard her vocals so much in the demo that they asked her to voice the role. She deserves alllll the recognition!

Every vocalist I watch react to this starts looking at their piano when she starts hitting that A5.

I cannot for the life of me sing this song lmao. I gave up trying to hit these notes the MOMENT I heard them, I just have fun squeaking out words now. 💀

"Does she become a demon in the show?" My good man, PLEASE watch the full movie - I think it'll make you appreciate the songs even more, especially because some of the 'official versions' here on Youtube are actually NOT the full versions of the songs!

Absolutely love how the difficulty of hitting that A5 is part of the story. Made perfect sense that the character would struggle to hit it so when she does finally get it it’s so satisfying. Not only because it comes at the end of a story but it also celebrates their personal (character & performer) achievement as a singer.

3:56 - "wow that's high!" ... and i thought "just wait a sec" 😂

I really wanna hear what EJAE sounds like live too, honestly. From what I’ve seen, she mostly stays in behind the scenes roles working in the kpop industry as a song writer/producer. The most I can find is her singing on demos. Even on her Spotify, it’s mostly experimental pieces without a lot of clear vocals.
This movie’s pretty much the first time she actually gets to take center stage in songs she’s worked on.

This movie better clean up at the Grammys and Oscar’s

My husband looked up the singer because he was so impressed by how beautiful her tone in lower notes were but how casually she hit those high notes. She was too old to be a K-pop star apparently so she went back to the US to just be a killer music maker. Also she produced a lot of these songs

I see all this love for Your Idol, which is well deserved, but why is everyone sleeping on What It Sounds Like?  SUCH a beautiful song.  The lyrics are absolutely breathtaking, and I love the constant build-up.  So powerful.

When you said “wow! That’s high!” I thought to myself “buckle up, buttercup”. EJAE is gonna blow your mind lol.

If you're going to react to your idol, you'd better note that the 2 minute  video does not contain the full song.

The singing voice for Rumi, the main vocal, is provided by EJAE.
She's an acclaimed Korean singer/ songwriter/vocal coach, who has written hit songs like "Psycho" for Red Velvet ( you can find a demo version with her singing it), "Armageddon" for aespa & "Dice" for NMIXX.
I believe she also did some vocal training for NMIXX early during their debut.
So yeah, she's that good.
Speaking of NMIXX: that's a K-Pop girl group I would recommend for a reaction video, specially their Tiny Desk performance.
All 6 members are insanely talented vocalists, their main vocalist, Lily, was performing Alicia Keys songs at age 12 & bandleader Haewon can belt out Beyonce songs a cappella just for fun.
Even their main rapper, Jiwoo, has a great singing voice.

So the first ever live version was performed yesterday on Jimmy Fallon. It's impressive as anything. Especially from someone making a live performance debut

Even as a soprano, I REALLY struggled to hit that high note at first. Only by playing the songs repeatedly and basically “practising” the high note have I managed to hit it without cracking my voice. And doing it repeatedly like that is HARD, especially with how smooth her voice sounds even through the high notes. Gotta give it to the artists who worked on these songs, they have some seriously amazing voices. I’d love to see your reaction to the other songs!

I'm a 42-year-old male heavy metal enjoyer, and I've gotta say.... I'm kinda obsessed with this song.

My five-year-old daughter wanted to watch K-pop Demon Hunters, and once she assured me it wouldn't be too scary.... we watched it together, and we BOTH absolutely loved it.

The movie has an incredible amount of depth, honesty, and emotional maturity, and the music absolutely slaps throughout!

'Golden' in particular is an absolute banger, and now my five-year-old daughter genuinely loves K-pop. 😅😅

I've sung in a couple of bands over the years, and my daughter has always seemed very musical for someone so young. Her and I have previously made some impromptu drum beats together and mucked around on my keyboard.... but I'm pretty sure 'Golden' from K-Pop Demon Hunters is THE song that will turn my daughter into a lifelong musician. She's been singing it ever since we finished the movie, and she's already asking for singing tips on how to hit those high notes. Golden is her first (ever) attempt at learning to sing a song she loves.... and she's already wanting to learn chest voice and head voice hahaha.

Honestly, I can't remember the first song that made me fall in love with music all those years ago when I was a kid..... but it's clear THIS is the song that has made my daughter truly fall in love with music.
🥲🥲🥲

I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!!! 😭😭😭

13:15 the texture of her voice was her insecurty (not welcomed by SM or the kpop industry) but it is actually what makes her so special and make these songs so good!

You know what’s even MORE amazing about this song? THE SINGER ISN’T EVEN A SINGER BY TRADE. SHE’S A KPOP SONG WRITER!! I can’t even find ANY performances by her on a stage!!! 🤯 It is SUCH a waste that she isn’t center stage with THOSE vocal abilities. She seriously needs to come out from background operations and get on stage. She is amazing.

In Korean culture, there exists a unique emotional concept called “Han” (한) — a deeply rooted sentiment that blends sorrow, unresolved resentment, and a longing for resolution. This emotion has been shaped over centuries of historical hardship, including repeated invasions and oppression by powerful neighboring countries such as China, Japan, and Russia.

Against this backdrop, even everyday greetings like “Annyeonghaseyo” (안녕하세요), which literally means “Are you at peace?”, reflect more than just politeness — they express a deep cultural desire for mutual safety and stability in an unpredictable world.

The emotional depth found in Korean traditional music and modern cultural expressions often resonates with what’s felt in African-American genres like R&B and soul. While the historical and social roots are vastly different, both cultures share an ability to channel complex collective emotions into powerful forms of artistic expression. This shared emotional architecture allows global audiences to sense a kind of unspoken connection across cultures.
