Hellraiser is an Unforgettable Classic !!!
Everyone remembers when they first saw Hellraiser. Also, one of horror's best sequels.

For me, this is one of those movies that holds a deep memory for me. I'll bore you with the details....

So, when this movie came out, I had just moved to London, just 20 years old, another young man moving from a little town (Torquay, on the South Coast) to chase his dreams. I didn't know anyone, only had a few hundred quid in my pocket, and I had travelled with a guy because he had a car - a car I slept in for 6 weeks, waiting for my Housing Benefit cheque to arrive so I could move into a flat.

And one afternoon, just a couple of days after arriving, while wondering around London, I spotted this at a cinema - this was September (the movie was released on the 10th September). So I randomly got myself a ticket and in I went to watch Hellraiser - what a blast.

So yep, I remember this so well, as it was right at such a pivotal point in my life. London usually chews up and spits people out, who end up returning back to their hometown within two years. I ended up living in London for the majority of the rest of my life - I'm 59 now, btw. But I'm back in Torquay now!!

Anyway, there you have it - fascinating stuff eh? 😂

The amount of times they said 'Clive Barker was ...' in this video had me frantically checking the news to make sure the man was still alive.

I've recently (today, mostly)  been revisiting Clive Barker, and then you - one of my favourite channels - upload this! What a spooky coincidence!!

Thank you!

Clive Barker and Douglas Adams, my two favorite writers. Fangoria was also my fav mag oh and Hustler.

Thank you so much SF - will these videos ever end? I do hope not!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.... from a fellow Brit 😊❣️📽️

If you haven't seen ''Leviathan, the story of Hellbound-Hellraiser 2'' (2015) It's a must. 3:30 hours of pure magic.:yougotthis::elbowcough::washhands::washhands::medal-yellow-first-red:

@seriousfeather has such delights to show us.

6 hours sitting in a make-up chair, 5, maybe 6 days a week - and then having to sit around wearing that suit for 10, 12 hours a day. 🤯😊

The best thing to come out of Liverpool full stop

Watching the Evil Dead bts and now this.  Great way to start my day waking up at 3:30am (3rd shift life).

This movie kept me up at night... dark movie..

Leviathan!

Andrew Robinson has such a great voice

I consider it an honour that Clive Barker's first film was shot in my native City. The man is a absolute genius. The metaphysical ideas (gnosticism, alchemy, etc...), the books, the paintings. He is a national treasure. I even like the games Undying and Jericho.

I met Bob Keen in Pinewood Studios after he took my brother and I on a tour (a favour for selling him some laserdiscs). Must have been around 1994 or 1995 when I was still in High School. We saw the Candyman dog-head up close and the spinning cylinder thing from Hellraiser 3 (which Sean Clark has now). Pure magic.

By some other magic I just happened to find his The Great and Secret Show book in a train station, after losing my original copy. It was like that scene out of Dario Argento's Inferno (when Sara finds a book right behind her by pure "chance").

I truly believe nothing is by chance. We are truly in a magical world, but don't always see the "occult".

I like that song from  Motorhead and the Ozzy Osbourne version isn't bad either.

Thank you 👍

This is, in my opinion one of the best movies of the 1980s (period) and maybe the best film by a non director ever. I hold it in the same regard as Ghostbusters, Robocop, The Terminator, and Aliens. It also birthed two of the most iconic images of horror in the modern psyche, the lament configuration and pinhead are just as recognizable as Karloff's Frankenstein or Legosi as Dracula. Barker never had/found his John Carpenter or Brian DePalma. The goal of a film studio is to sell tickets, that being said, had they allowed a 3 hour film to increase mystery and tension and trusted him with a few million more for the ending, I believe the first Hellraiser would be widely considered the most terrifying film of all  time. Given the paranormal nature of the story it couldn't achieve the same scope as Texas Chainsaw without more investment. It's a masterpiece of limitation and constraint. Also, as an aside, the score doesn't get nearly enough credit, it's one of my top 5 personal favorite themes of all film scores. Again, this feat was accomplished by an author with no experience making a moving picture.

Damn.   That look with Clare Higgins as Julia at 14:04.  Lust, desire, dark hatred.  As young teen I was so fascinated by her, and I cemented my relations with attractive older women I was going to college.  Need I say more.

Sure would love to see a screen adaptation of Coldheart Canyon. It's my favorite Barker novel.
