As someone that had a 1200XL I wish it was that but I'm all over this

Great interview . Thanks 😊

It looks a lot like last year's The 400 Mini, but this time with a working keyboard and cartridge port!
Like the 2600+, it's good for people who don't have original equipment but have a number of the cartridges.
It's a REAL (emulated) Computer! That's all I ever wanted in the early 1980s.

I’m absolutely grabbing one of these! I had the OG one in my eBay cart, and was legit about to buy it the other day. I randomly checked my email and saw the message to pre-order from Atari… definitely want one of these again! I’ve missed having an Atari 8bit machine.

It's the 400 Mini with a keyboard and joystick port. I was hoping for authentic ports for disc drives and printers, like the upcoming Amiga 1200. As far as the pack-in games, my big question is if Seven Cities of Gold will be restored to its original version. The 400 Mini version was needlessly wrecked: the title sequence, the world-building mode, and cruise control for your ships were all taken away. Needless to say, I wasn't happy with that one bit. These are all constructive criticisms, mind you, and I do hope that New Atari delivers an outstanding product. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best!

Thank you for bringing this to us, Mike!

1. hellllll yeahhhh!  Go MIKE!
2.  I was in before… when I saw they kinda fixed the controller/stick, Getting 5200 games to work right on the 400 Mini was a pain.  Sounds like they’ve zeroed it in a little.  Can’t wait!

Mike, it's great that you're at PRGE! I loved the video, even though the seller doesn't seem to like 8-bit games hahaha. On the other hand, I loved that it doesn't say "Loading" when the cartridge loads, unlike the PLUS systems, it's like they actually listened to us.😉👾🕹

the cartridge slot it cool

Ordered mine 🙂

my first computer was an Atari 800XL, absolutely loved that  computer. I think I will need to get this

Hi Mike, never heard of this, thanks for showing it, wonder what it will be, lets watch and see

looks cool

While my first computer was an Atari 400 (with the old membrane keyboard and a cassette drive), we basically didn't use it for much more than a game machine. The 800XL was my first REAL computer. Yeah, I played games on it, but I did word processing, printed schoolwork, and even went on the old BBS systems that predated the modern internet. I preordered this as soon as it was announced.

Very impressive.

Thanks Mike!

Very nice!!! 🙂👍

Fair warning to Atari: I will be running this right next to the original 800XL. So if there are emulation issues, I'll know... Well, at least it has a proper keyboard and a cart slot.

can you make copies of the Floppy Discs to share with your buddies?
