Ride with us into the frontier as Lee & Ash react and commentate on The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), one of Clint Eastwood’s most iconic Westerns. From the unforgettable characters to the gritty storytelling, this movie gave us plenty to talk about — and a few moments that left us stunned.
*Our normal editing had to be improvised as Warner Brothers found fault even with our only allowing 5 seconds at a time. We have added a Native Drumbeat to the audio. Our apologies but we didn't have any other way as they rejected our dispute as well.*

The young woman who falls in love with Josey is played by Sondra Locke. At the time, she and Eastwood were dating. She appeared in a few of his films. They dated for 14 years, meeting in 1975 when this movie was being made and they went their separate ways around 1989.
River businesses were labor intensive and slavery, sadly, was the way river barges and bottom land farms were operated... most folks living away from the rivers were single or multiple family farms where few owned slaves.
This movie captures a lot of the culture clash that began the hostilities.

Chief Dan George was having trouble remembering his lines and was afraid he might be replaced. Instead, Eastwood would discuss each scene with him and told him to just use his own words. Chief Dan George gave an all time great performance.
