I'm so glad I've found your channel! I've been looking into the South of Spain as a possible future retirement option (I'm from Central Europe) as I appreciate the weather, the people and the whole lifestyle over there. Costa Blanca is one of the options and it's refreshing to find a channel, which is reporting openly about what's happening there and what it's like to live there.
It'll still take some time for me to make the move, but in the meantime it's great to have a channel like yours to follow, to keep tabs on the area. Thank you for the videos, happy to subscribe!

I lived there for about 7 years, been back in the UK for the last 10. We were in OC, I'd move back tomorrow, maybe to a different area (Andalusia). We were happy although in hindsight I wish we bought resale in a Spanish area ie San Miguel. It's definitely better than the UK.

Good video.
I spend a decent amount of months here. Like 6-8.
I agree with all thats said.

Nothing has happened to me, but I am aware that some its not the best idea to walk outside alone late at night. :)

Other than that I have not much to complain.
Costa del sol is a few degrees colder in the winter, but there is less wind there. So weather experience might actually be warmer. Thats what I noticed.
Winterperiod on a non electric bike even for a guy below 40 years of age can be quite tough in Torre.

I am satisfied with the amount of live music, pubs and restaurants though!

We lived there for 7 years, and I agree fully with you. I find the hospitals very good, but in the medical centre in Cabo Roig, you might need a translator. The police are helpful if you speak Spanish or have translator. Safety is good, apart from huggers and pickpocket (mostly Southern Eastern Europeans). Break-ins when occupied are more frequent in new houses, because the owners often come with too much cash. Or, if the house is unoccupied. In 28 years we've had 1 break-in when a band of Bulgarians targetted the area, but with a decent video and alarm system we're fairly well protected. With new rules on AirBnB type rentals our urbanisation has become less unruly in Summer when hordes of holidaymakers arrive. Restaurants are plentiful and less expensive than here in Germany. I'd go back tomorrow for good.

I feel the Orihuela Costa can get a bad press as being a place that’s not “Spanish” enough.
The reality of living here is, yes it isn’t particularly Spanish, but that is down to it comprising places that grew out of nothing.
Of course if you have a Spanish town that grows into a more touristy area it still retains its Spanish roots and rhythms.
Whereas here it’s a mixture of nationalities with no local Spanish culture to integrate into.
Ironically where I live I’ve noticed it’s Brits selling and Poles buying. I now have a lot of Polish friends and know a lot more about Polish history and culture than I did before!
If it was Spaniards it’d be the same but it’s not so I don’t think we should be bashed for not integrating into a non-existent community.
Perhaps it’s something you’d want to address in a future video.

The world is becoming more and more divided in part due to the illegal immigrants blatantly exploiting weak governments, whilst we all pay our way, follow the rules, try to fit in many people are just breaking into countries (please research where many are leaving and if they are running from war or persecution), this is rightly annoying those of us who follow rules. I don't think it will ever improve and countries will start becoming more hostile towards immigration and visitors.Tourism is dying because the whole world now uses the internet so you can work from anywhere, sell anything and buy anything, the days of sightseeing and experiencing new cultures are long gone (most cultures are now extremely westernised) I love the "idea" of living in Spain BUT the reality is not appealing at all and I think we'll hear nightmare "ex-pat" stories in a few years
