Huge shoutout to Casa + Courtney for doing their best to keep the stream vibes up. Agree with all your takes here

As soon as you said "scrub behavior" I knew you were referencing Dave Sirlin. I find it real interesting when people reference what I consider to be seminal texts like Playing to Win or like Who's the Beatdown outside of their original contexts.

Unfortunately, for Riftbound’s health, the DQ was very deserved regardless of what happened next. Imagine being this rude in a featured match knowing you are on stream, lets you wonder what he does on any other match.  Also, you are playing a card game, you are not that tough to elbow your way around the rules

Of course there's a calm rune logo in the background of dhawally's cam

Love your take. I agree here. Dawahli hes every right to be frustrated, bht it doesn’t warrant the behavior. I can’t say for sure as we don’t know him but a lot of people who find early success can sometimes develop this tendency of “I deserve to win because I’m good”. Telling your opponent i cant lose look at my hand is absolutely a sign of this behavior. I hope he reflects and changes his behavior.

If you watch the Dhawally games from past RQs we can see how long he always takes for his turns without considering the time constraints. If you play like this, you don't have any argument to ask any opponent to speed things up to be honest. Even if it is not slow playing, if you take your time, don't ask others to not take theirs.

It's important to have sportsmanship in any competitive environment. I was drilled this into my head during my time as varsity high school tennis. But people who never had these early learning periods in life can really just not have it at all. It's natural to blame everything and everyone else except yourself, but you learn thru competition quickly and from experience that errors from yourself are the most common.

I hope he takes this lesson to heart and grows and becomes a better player as a result. As long as he takes this as a learning opportunity, he can be forgiven.

I caught this live and was honestly not surprised. More often than not, I've had a majority of negative experiences playing against "pro" players across different TCGs. The arrogance some of them exude is next level.

I laughed hard when you brought out the Raging Goblin comparison. That was one of the first MTG cards I ever owned and that flavor text is so iconic to me. Loved seeing that reference brought out.

Appreciate the commentary and content Sam!

Love your take. Raging goblin mentionned pog !

Thumbnails just get better and better 🔥

Great video Sam much respect for you to discuss the situation objectively even though he is your friend. All the “pros” and influencers making excuses for him are losing respect from the community

Would love to see a follow up video discussing the other accusations that have since come out from fr0zen and many others. That issue is way more serious than the on steam incident

Tbh if all this cheating goes unanswered, I think it will really damage the games reputation

great video, I always love your inputs on everything

I agree, dhawally just needed to play within the time constraints and not expect his opponent to play like there was no time limit. It’s a would have/ could have/ should have world that he shaped in his head that wasn’t grounded in the reality of what was actually happening.

Thank you Sam I havent watched the video and I have decided my opinion is your opinion thank you so much my goat

The squeaky wheel got no grease, and boy was it squeaking.

To note, generally extensions on stream aren't given in the traditional sense as the timer itself will get paused.
If the timer wasn't paused, there wasn't a loss of time.

Asking for extra turns after oponent making a decision CLEARLY because they’re in turns is already a bad thing imo

Bro needed a Snickers...

Everyone can understand the frustration of losing to time or just being on extra turns but thats part of the grind/hustle. You can't let your mental break over a set back like that, just accept it and move on. Otherwise, why even bother playing competative strategy games, just go play the ones that have a timer built into each persons action.

Discussion is fine, feeling that the timerule is unfair because its help the long combo player sure understandable, what I dont get is asking the opp to concede when the opp did play the time legally it just sounds whiny and kinda unsportsman like.

Tho tbf I also heard the mateo player actually was slow playing with multiple report/people complaining
