Hello everyone!
I want to share with you the story of an incredible journey I embarked on to fulfill my dream. This film tells the tale of how, with a lot of effort, perseverance, and faith in myself, I managed to turn a stone ruin into a warm and cozy forest house in just one year.
The house, built back in 1957, is situated on a beautiful 2.5-hectare plot of land. When I first saw it, it was in really poor condition—almost unrecognizable and overrun by nature. Yet, in those stone walls, I saw potential and an opportunity to create a home with a soul.
The transformation was anything but easy. It required months of hard work, meticulous planning, and countless moments when I had to rely on my determination and patience. Every stone, every plank, and every detail was restored with love and respect for tradition, but also with a vision of a modern and comfortable living space.
This house now tells the story of how dreams can come true with hard work and faith in yourself. I hope this story will inspire you to pursue your own goals, no matter how distant they may seem.

Thank you all for your comments and interest in the renovation of this house! I’d like to take the opportunity to explain a frequently asked question: how can the renovation of a house built in 1957 be connected to the era of World War II?
Historical Context and the Impact of World War II on Construction
Although this house was built in 1957, it’s important to remember that the effects of World War II (1939–1945) were far-reaching and continued to shape the world for years after the war officially ended. It’s also crucial to understand that the war didn’t truly “end” with a single date—its consequences lingered for a long time. Here’s why this period is relevant to the house and its renovation:
1. Limited Resources and Materials:
The post-war era was marked by chronic shortages of building materials. Much of the infrastructure had been destroyed during the war, and priority was given to rebuilding essential structures like roads, bridges, and industrial facilities. Houses like this one were often built using recycled materials or makeshift solutions. People made do with whatever they could find, and the quality of materials reflected these limitations.
2. Recovering Economy:
Europe’s economic recovery after the war was slow and prolonged. Countries heavily affected by the war had to focus on rebuilding basic infrastructure before they could prioritize individual construction projects. This house was built during a time when financial resources and skilled labor were scarce, which had a direct impact on the way and pace at which it was constructed.
3. Labor Shortages:
During the war, many skilled workers were either mobilized into the military or lost their lives in the conflict. After the war, there was a shortage of qualified labor, meaning that construction projects were often carried out by individuals without formal training but with immense effort and resourcefulness.
4. Post-War Architecture and Style:
Houses built during this period were often simple and functional, reflecting the realities of the time. The focus was on practicality rather than aesthetics. The architectural style, materials, and methods used during this period were directly influenced by the challenges of post-war conditions.
5. War Legacy and Local Impact:
The war didn’t just destroy physical infrastructure; it left a psychological and social impact on communities. People built with survival and resilience in mind, and many homes, including this one, bore the weight of historical events that shaped their foundations.
6. The War as a Process, Not Just a Date:
It’s important to understand that the war didn’t truly “end” in 1945 in a practical sense. Its consequences—destroyed infrastructure, economic challenges, shortages, and political tensions—continued to shape lives and influence every aspect of society, including construction. This house, built in 1957, reflects those post-war challenges and the resilience of the community.
Why This Matters for the Renovation:
When I renovate this house, I’m not just restoring a physical structure—I’m preserving a piece of history. Every detail of this house tells a story about the time it was built: a story of resourcefulness, community, and adaptation to post-war conditions.
Yes, 1957 is technically after the end of World War II, but the reality is that its effects were still very much present. The war didn’t truly end with the last bullet—the consequences were felt for years, even decades, afterward.
Conclusion:
This is why the renovation of this house is significant, not just for me but as a reminder of the history and challenges of that time. Please keep this historical context in mind when asking questions or expressing doubts. If you have further questions, feel free to share them—I’m happy to explain in more detail.
Thank you for your understanding and support throughout this project! Your comments and feedback inspire me to continue preserving this house and its story. 😊
