Your gut microbiome controls your metabolism, immune system, inflammation, mood, brain health, insulin sensitivity, and long-term disease risk — and in this video, Dr Alex explains 9 evidence-based ways to improve gut health, increase microbial diversity, and fix gut dysbiosis naturally, without supplements or extreme diets.
Most people think gut health is just about digestion. It isn’t.
Your gut bacteria quietly influence energy levels, blood sugar control, weight gain, cravings, inflammation, mental clarity, immune resilience, sleep quality, and ageing — often years before disease appears.
In this video, I break down exactly how to improve your gut microbiome using science-backed habits that actually work in the real world. No fads. No detoxes. No probiotics you don’t need. Just practical, evidence-based strategies that support microbial diversity, short-chain fatty acid production, and long-term metabolic health.
What you’ll learn in this video:
-What the gut microbiome really is (and why it functions like an organ)
-How gut bacteria affect inflammation, insulin resistance, immunity, mood, and ageing
-The 9 daily habits that reliably improve gut health
-Why fibre, diversity, sleep, stress, and movement matter more than supplements
-How ultra-processed foods quietly damage your microbiome
-Why consistency beats intensity for long-term gut repair and longevity

It's called The Long Game, and it's an extension of everything I do here on the channel. Every morning I'll send you something short, whether that's a thought I've had that day, a tip you can put into practice, a piece of research I found interesting, or something I've learned from years of seeing people at their worst in A&E.
Most take between thirty seconds and a couple of minutes to read, so it fits around a normal morning, certainly shorter than my videos anyway...
I've called it The Long Game because that's what all of this is. There are no shortcuts and no quick fixes in anything I teach. It's small things done consistently over many years, and that's what genuinely changes your health in the end.
It's free, and you can sign up here: https://www.dralexnewsletter.com
This is brand new, and so the first few emails may end up in your spam, as with all new email newsletters, but hopefully this will soon sort itself out....
Let me know what you think!
