She didn't even want to be an idol. Originally, she auditioned to be an actress, so I think now she's enjoying her career more, since she finally gets to pursue acting

@dameinoferrall2400 6 months ago

If she cares she hides it extremely well. I personally think she's not all that bothered and she's more than happy to do her own thing irrespective of more attention or lack thereof.

Jisoo is the most popular member in korea. Internationally speaking, she hasn't tried to learn english so she obviously will be less popular. People dont see her interviews unless watching a dub which most people dont care for. You speak of her brand but unfortunatley no one can understand korean outside korea. The other 3 members speak english fluently and made a presence outside of korea to appeal to more fans

@Flaming_2023-p4p 6 months ago

Honestly I like her the most and she seems most stable and genuine. Not the most flashy but most dependable

There are people who play "the long game". She is smart and she knows (i think she said it herself) that popularity has a peak, then you have to make room for the next gen. I think she's the one who knows 100% who she is, what she can do, what she likes. Her brand is based on TRUST, that's why fashion houses hunt her. You can see this is all her projects, she's playing safe and she builds brick by brick this product, and with that there comes a very loyal and engaged fandom. You'll see. She is not the most famous one but her fans are the most loyal.

It's interesting how you say she's the "side character" when in reality she's the one that has the most stable career. I mean, she's been the top global ambassador of Dior for years because she's the one that's had the most impact on sales for the brand (just to give an example), she's just not the most flashy of the BP members, and the one who seems to want to be the center of attention the least. Her presence is calming, not demanding.

She is just an obligatory korean member in a kpop group, and she is wealthy enough not to care.

@oitskat 6 months ago

The unfortunate part with Jisoo is that she was the only non-english speaking member and her personality was always more down to earth, adjacent to Korean culture. It was difficult to translate that to international success or something very unique in a global sense.

She is very talented however and deserves all the success she has gotten so far. I hope the acting career takes her to new heights ~

being the least popular or unknown in a huge band/group is actually the dream. you get to tour, make bank on records/deals, but also not be recognised or swamped everywhere you go. could anyone name the bassist or drummer in super famous bands like linkin park, or more pop rock ones like maroon 5, coldplay, etc.? seems like a pretty sweet deal to me

@c_hanelroses 6 months ago (edited)

I personally love how Jisoo mainly focuses on her home country. K-pop is gaining popularity among international audiences primarily due to the use of English, and I think she has no interest in pursuing that tbh. Honestly she's still pretty much one of the biggest and most known kpop idols/soloists worldwide even without english use and that's pretty impressive and rare

@Strnworld.k 6 months ago

The way the comment section are just kpoppies and not actual thoughtful reflection on the subject 😭

@modellodime 6 months ago

I wouldnt worry about it too much, I believe that Jisoo is set to have a steady, long career: her fandom is not the loudest but is the most loyal, that’s why despite being the least popular member she is the one with the biggest selling power

@KamichiKaya 5 months ago

As someone who attended a Blackpink Concert before and had the pleasure to be front row in front of Jisoo: She cares for the fans the most, she looks like she's having the most fun, she is playful and sweet. She feels genuine in everything she does. That concert shiftet my entire perspective and she became my favourite in an instant.

@hittitesun2141 6 months ago (edited)

she always has a mature stoic aura to her. not like the rest of black pink, she feels older and more grounded. they are trying to fit her into boxes but she is just not that girl. i think her turning point would be an album that showcased her musical ability maybe a blues album with live instruments. she shouldve been the one to collab with RAYE

@JoshuaHenelyThornhill 6 months ago

Ngl Jisoo just feels like a chill individual doing her thing and who quickly learned to not give a flying F about the others. I feel like you can really witness it with her solo. I respect her a lot !

@Ashley-vs8nu 6 months ago

Jisoo wants to be an actress. This is a side quest

@ludofratta2328 6 months ago

The real reason why Jisoo is not the favourite oversea is because she isn't fluent in english, doesn't care to be as international, she wants to be and do what she likes not what it sells. She is so loved in korea, not only amongst blackpink fans, but especially for all the other fandoms too. She is a very funny person, shining in variety (which YG never allowed her to do) and she is a good, although rookie, actress.

@Cynthia-iy5jp 6 months ago

Jisoo got her own pace. Even after she left YG, you'd notice how she carefully studies things before she move and she's very intentional. Unlike the others, she'd rather keep to herself. The most private one of them. She mentioned that unlike the other members, she doesn't crave or go after the spotlight. It's noticeable by how little she does with her promos, even in Korea. She also hasn't move towards the western market and I don't think it's just the language barrier, she can speak english albeit very shyly. I think it's a knowing decision to focus more on APAC promotions cause it keeps her closer to Korea where she's finally indulging in what she really wanted to do which is acting. I think people judge her by the standards of how we usually see things but with Jisoo, I think she's not really here to pursue fame per se.
