Welcome to Month 13 of my Project Pan — aka Year 2, Month 1! 💜

This month ended up being a BIG one. My empties bag is overflowing, we’re checking in on my skincare, haircare, sunscreen and body care progress, and after a full year of Project Pan… I’m finally giving myself permission to declutter products I genuinely don’t want to use anymore.

One expired favorite also made me rethink the way I’ve been approaching this project. I don’t want to spend months forcing myself through products I don’t enjoy while the things I actually LOVE sit around waiting to be used.

So in this vlog-style update we’re going through the collection category by category, talking empties, purchases, progress, products I’m passing along, products I’m tossing, and what I want Year 2 of Project Pan to look like.

Plus… there may be a little nail polish detour. 😂💅

I try to use up the items to help with my overconsumption mindset. Using things I don’t like helps me to avoid impulse purchases. I declutter anything that gives me acne or an allergic reaction. 💜

One thing I need to do is not overpurchase favorite products. I purchased other items thinking they would do 'better' but they don't. Sometimes good enough is good enough and I don't use up items as quickly as I think I do. You're right - use your favorites up don't save them.

Old body wash - I’d use them as hand soap at kitchen sink, decant in smaller pump. My shampoos I didn’t like have the same destiny.

I sometimes wonder if cosmetic manufacturers do promotions like that to unload products that have been sitting around too long or close to the expiry date. I had a pan fail this week too. No worries, you got this!

My favorite serum type products have been the cetaphil peptide with the little balls in it, haruharu black rice essence (soooo moisturizing), and the naturiam azelaic acid. My skincare goal is to plump and even out my skin tone. I have really sensitive skin so I can’t use too much or things that are too harsh

I'm absolutely DYING for the day I let myself do a declutter. I refuse to do it until I have participated in project panning for a full year but wow there are definitely some terrible NOPES that have revealed themselves over the course of this year and I"m longing to be able to hurl them in the general direction of the trash can with all the force of vitriol I can muster.

I would have used the cleansers in the same order, your reasoning that the Elemis is thicker and better for fall and winter makes total sense. Sometimes we do the right thing and bad things still happen, I think that's important to remember in order to not be hard on yourself!
Get the Elemis one you love, but in case you do want to give a nice alternative a try (I think it's cheaper, since I live in Europe I'm not sure about US prices 😅) have you tried the Farmacy Green Clean? They have small sizes, perfect for testing 😊

I’ve gotten a few items of skincare and makeup at Dollar Tree. I feel like it’s a real hit or miss situation. I do have a gel moisturizer I like but I have oily skin. I really am trying to use more of the generic target and Walmart items instead of Dollar 🌳 just because I don’t want to wind up discarding the products. But you’re right, everybody’s skin is so different. I like your nail polish colors. Very fun.

I’ve had good luck with the Byoma brightening serum - been through about 5 and they’re around $15 dollars at Target! Also really like the Azelaic acid from inkey list. I was also recommended the good molecules vitamin c as a great gentle vitamin c option but haven’t tried it yet. I have a friend who swears by it though.
