About the food thing: "Low-fat" stuff can actually be really bad for you - some of the fats they replace proper fats with can often be outright bad for your health, or just provide no nutritional value whatsoever. The real bad guy when it comes to food is sugar - there's a lot of unnecessary sugar in a lot of things, and in comparison, things like butter is actually much healthier. In moderation, of course, as with all things.
21:00 The AI stuff is really relatable. As someone in academia, my colleagues are always looking for signs that the student used ChatGPT to write their essays.
As a kid I was super averse to vegetables because my family always made the stuff from cans but when I tried actual fresh vegetables, or when they were baked, or even just in a restuarant, specifically for asian cuisine that was the best stuff I ever tasted. I remember thinking, "Oh, is that what that's supposed to taste like?"
I'm still really picky about what I eat, and my family never had much access to fresh foods so now I'm trying a whole bunch of fruits and stuff I've never had before. I didn't eat an actual blueberry until I turned 18. And the first time I ate a raspberry was last year. Now I can't get enough of them.
I'm still so curious if you guys ever did write down an actual recipe to the grandma cake; I love vintage recipes and this one sounds like what my friend's grandma, Gisela, would make for us on the weekends when I would visit! I would love to try and recreate it.
I'm so completely baffled by that corner piece, lol. How does that even happen? Don't they print it all on one piece of cardboard and then cut it at once?? How could that produce a piece that so clearly doesn't fit?? 😂😭
my mom just told me about these haunted house puzzles called Flipsi Puzzles. they're double-sided puzzles with different textures so you would build the haunted house puzzle then flip it over for another spooky mystery image!
23:26 Yeah, very, very relatable for me too, even when I try to keep up on some updated news lately, I feel like melting, overloaded, and tantrum. Then I need time to control my mood to get back to work and forget everything. Usually I can forget things I don't like for 3 days, and that's ng.
Ointment > lotion. My son had terrible dry skin and eczema, and I learned a lot from helping him heal that. Warmish shower/bath, pat dry, then within 3 minutes apply moisturizing ointment (lotion mostly evaporates) & a sealant like vasoline. Last step (optional) is wet wrapping, but he hated that so we just put him in a onesie with my socks on his hands and feet. His doctors call it a “moisture sandwich” which I find gross but it worked. His skin no longer cracks and comes off!
Extreme example but the important bits can help anyone: not using hot water, using ointment not lotion, and its most effective within 3 minutes of a bath. 💜 Hope this helps anyone reading
you inspired me to get a puzzle tray, with a cover so i can keep my cats out in between working on it. i'm doing a puzzle right now as i watch you do one. :)
