47,000 bodies buried in one mass grave!  165,000 in this area killed or missing.  Hard to imagine.

The sad part of it all, is it could happen again and at anytime.

That child saying that poem/song was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. What a beautiful language. I had chills on top of chills in between my tears.  I cannot imagine .....not an earthquake and not a tsunami. I live in Saskatchewan Canada and i just cannot even comprehend the fear and the pain and the loss.

Beautiful people and what a lesson to the rest of us, "always be humble and kind".

my step brother was killed in that tsunami. hes body was never recovered but hes here with spirit.

If this does not make you humble nothing will,we are all so close to death and don’t know it.may these people find some kind of peace.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!! You never know the day, the minute, or even the second, when you will leave this earth!  Live every day like it might be your last. Death is a scary thing, when you think about it. When you think your life is hard, and your problems are so bad, stop and think, THOSE poor souls went through SUCH more horrific things in their lives then anybody should ever of had to. So very sad and heartbreaking.

I remember the day this happened so well. It had a similar effect for me as 9/11. Both are days filled with shock, horror, overwhelming heartache, disbelief and helplessness. All feelings that no one wants to have. Watching this documentary, all of these years later, gave me new feelings to have when the thought of this day goes through my mind. To see and hear how things are so much better for the people there, it doesn't take away the memory of the people that lost their lives, but maybe it let's their spirits rest in peace, now that those left behind to carry on, have a daily life that is vastly improved and filled with hope for the future. God Bless every person that was lost and God Bless all those who survived!💞

I was 14 when this happened. The tremor was hugeeeee! 40 members of my family are still missing. Their bodies are nowhere to be found, almost 20 years.

How they rebuilt their city really shows how resilient this community is. Look at the roads. I live in the U.S and we supposed to be the " best " yet didnt completely rebuild after Katrina.

What a lovely documentary. Not forieners stories, but those of the people who lived there. What loss and recovery. 😓

Tsunami dreams plagued me for months before the actual event. Now I dream in peace. Amen.

I still remember that day vividly even though I was just a teen in my safe home many km away from the Indian Ocean in Europe, I cried and cried and couldn't believe nature is capable of such a catastrophe. The images where horrid, the news devastating, the number of dead so unimaginable that almost caused you anger even if you weren't directly affected.
