The Blackfyre branch was started by Daemon Blackfyre who was the bastard son of king Aegon IV. Before the king died he legitimized all of his bastard children including Daemon and Blood Raven (aka the 3 eyed raven) and passed down the Targaryen ancestral sword "Blackfyre" to his son Daemon which he took for his last name

Eggs father Maekar and his uncle Baelor both went to war against the Blackfyre's after Daemon started a rebellion to take the throne from their father who's currently the king in this series

Dunk has a habit of getting annoyed with or angry at Egg and then calming down and saying or doing something nice for the boy a short time later.  He was used to Ser Arlan having a shorter temper and hitting him, but Dunk is basically a kinder soul.

Knights' shields often carry the coat of arms and/or sigils of the noble or Great Houses they come from.  In the case of those Knights who were not born into nobility, or who were bastards, they can create their own sigils for their shields.

Ser Arlan had three horses, which Dunk inherited:  Thunder, Ser Arlan's destrier (warhorse), ridden only in tournaments and actual battles; Sweetfoot, a palfrey mare who was the knight's riding horse, and old Chestnut (who carried Dunk and their gear, and later Egg).

They killed the horse to put him out of his misery, the veterinary medicine of the day was not good enough to have saved him.  The rider, Ser Humfrey, has a badly broken leg but is alive.

When Prince Baelor frowns and twists his head back and forth, it's in reaction to his nephew Aerion's embarrassing House Targaryen (by deliberately fatally injuring the horse to eliminate the rider, Ser Humfrey, from the competition).  Baelor has probably led the Targaryen contingent to this out-of-the-way tourney given by a minor lord to show Targaryen strength and unity and fitness as royalty, and does not want unnecessary violence and poor sportsmanship by a member of his family.  It is not totally against the rules for a knight to kill/fatally injure a horse ridden by another horse in a joust at a tourney, but it is considered dishonorable.

Different tourneys can have different rules so this one works differently to any that we saw in GoT or HotD. This one is for Lord Ashford's daughter's birthday so she was deemed "the queen of love and beauty" and started with 5 champions to defend her honor. The tourney started with that 5v5 we saw in the previous episode where 5 challengers rode to take on the 5 champions (it wasn't really a 5v5 so much as 5 1v1s all happening next to each other). If any of the challengers won, they'd take the place of the champion they defeated. After that first tilt, it was just normal 1v1 jousting the rest of the way. A challenger could choose any of the champions to ride against and if they won, they'd take the champion's place and could be challenged at any point*. At the end of the three day tournament, the 5 champions, whoever they ended up being when the tourney ended, would decide whether the title of "the queen of love and beauty" stayed with the girl that started the tourney with it or if someone else in attendance was crowned instead.

*That's why the steward of the games had to tell Dunk about the scheme by the way. A lot of people ask why Lord Ashford's son couldn't have just taken the fall anyway, but they specifically needed someone like Dunk (an unproven knight who no one would be betting money on) to choose to challenge Androw Ashford, at which point Lord Ashford could put a bunch of money on Dunk, Androw would take the dive, and they'd win a ton of money on the very slim odds of Dunk unseating an established champion.

Duncan the Tall is about 7 ft. tall in maturity.  (in the novella on which this season is based, Dunk is only 16-17 years old, while actor Peter Claffey is in his 20's). Finn Bennett, who plays Prince Aerion, is either 5/8 or 5'10.

Raymun Fossoway might have a special bias against the Targaryens;  his ancestor(s) chose the wrong side in the "House of the Dragon" era and House Fossoway was subsequently punished by losing status/lordship.

WHAT ARE THE RULESSS~~

Most of the events portrayed in the puppet shows are legends that were old long before House Targaryen left Valyria, and the dragons are not dragons associated with House Targaryen...

Remember when, during this episode and the last, various people have mentioned that Prince Maekar (Aerion's father)'s two sons have gone missing on their way to the tourney?  That's a big clue as to Egg's origin.

No one ever clocks that the future teller is also the tavern woman.

18:32 He wants Dunk to win in a fixed match. Dunk is to select who he will fight. He wants Dunk to choose Lord A's son, whom is ready to loose on purpose, even though he is good. So by betting on Dunk to win, you will get good ods. Dunk doesn't want to win by cheating and initially declines.

Edit: I figured your comment out right after posting 😅

i didnt realize ser dunc was forcing his voice to be deeper, to sound much older. but sometimes he forgets and speaks with his high-pitch normal voice. 😭❤‍🩹

Why should the heir to the iron throne do Little Finger thing? He is a Targaryen, not someone from small houses who wants climb the ladder.
