The standard issue FILBE pack system beats your setups to a pulp! You guys who buy market gear/use old alice packs are simply attempting to set yourself apart from the typical grunt, it's a ("look at me I'm a special operator") status symbol attempt.

I’m going to watch this video completely for 2 sole reasons 1 to see if he says how much it weights and 2 to see if he has the kitchen sink in there.  🤷🏻‍♂️🙄

Hey I know this video is a bit older, but how do you go about packing a sleeping bag/bivy for colder weather while still keeping it more accessible

I have a complete Marine Corp FILBE and it's served me well for a long time in some rough places.  But there is just something about the design of the ALICE that works. Especially in a woodland or jungle type environment where you are on foot more than riding around in vehicles. Pick your poison, they're both great systems.

I have the large alice pack and was looking at doing the mods like this. Would you recommend using the large or should I get the medium?

I always tried to carry minimum amount.  Adding a million extra pouches just means you carry more unnecessary gear.  Biggest shortcoming with an ALICE pack the standard issue shoulder straps.  Repo them with beefier ones and a chest strap.  Also repo with a more padded waist belt.  Also no place to carry any king of sleep system especially a winter one.

That is a good suggestion on have an attachment on the side to hold long tools/equipment.

Felt wool insoles work very well, even better is actually putting a wool sock around them to help with absorption and cushioning but you would of course need to increase your boot size to accommodate yet it is highly worth it.  Thanks for the ruck tour man!

Like it because it’s scaled down, personally I think that was the right answer because we carry alot of bs tbh ! I never change my uniform even when wet I just layer up , extra boots? Just why?, I think people bring too much comfort items! also if you don’t like the plastic frame from you can switch it to an Alice frame :) which I have done!

on your boot insoles, we in the british army are issued gortex socks, not to patrol in but to wear in the harbour area when your boots are soaked because the dry the inside of the boot while keeping you dry and normally by the time you go out on an action the boots are readt to go again.
