The composition of this strike group made perfect sense. A squadron of x-wings to deal with any fighters and 2 capitol ship busting B-wings to take out the frigate. A group like this could deal with 90% of any threats they'd face. Now that the empire is gone the chances of facing something as big as a star destroyer is remote.

The rebels fan inside me jumped out my seat when I saw the b-wings use their lasers

Loved seeing the B-Wings in full action, Skeleton Crew was superb

It was nice to see a call-back to that composite laser design, from Rebels.   That episode really made the B-wing seem badass.

You missed when the owl lady called the first time.  She got a couple X-Wings to respond in a quick manner!?!

8 X-Wings, 2 B-Wings and a Corvette in the rear seems like a spec ops group.
That attack group could take down an ISD.

At least the B-Wings did something by using anti-ship lasers to destroy Jod's pirate capital ship than fly around and look cool.

So, basically.....

Navarro: We're an independent system with a whole lotta sand and no money that needs help with pirates!
The New Republic: Meh. Next!
At Attin: We're an independent system with more money than sense that needs help with pirates!
The New Republic: Kaaaaaa-Ching, baby! We'll take it-- er, I mean, we'll be there in a heartbeat!

One reason that the New Republic probably took the pirate attack on At Attin more seriously than the attack on Navarro was it's location. Navarro was in the outer rim, which has gotten the short stick from both the Old Republic and the Empire. Thus it's not surprising that the New Republic would be reluctant to waste resources on that world. At Attin, which is close to Alderaan, is located in the Core. Since the New Republic wouldn't appreciate pirate attacks, or a possible pirate base, near their most important worlds, they got involved.

It's as if the new republic had been shadowing the kids waiting for them to lead them to At attin...

The Owl lady knew more than we were led to believe

Composite Laser B-Wing is a helluva lot more cost effective to keep on hand for emergencies than actual Capital Ships.  1 Crew, hyperdrive, etc.  I love it.

Well as someone who served in the military it makes sense to have the B-Wing...you have a whole lot of firepower packed into a fighter sized ship and the ability to kill anything from a Corvette to a Star Destroyer without yourself having to have a capital ship. Basically it serves a role similar to the WW2 PT Boats which punched far above their weight class...

Your comments toward the end about cost effectiveness is spot-on. I follow the war in Ukraine regularly, and there's this YT guy from Estonia who occasionally talks about how Estonia is arming up to defend against Russia...and they're basically using the B-wing "anti-capital ship" tactic. Instead of having tanks (the "capital ship" of the battlefield), they're stocking up on hundreds and thousands of Javelins, drones, HIMARS, self-propelled artillery, etc...b/c you can buy at least 100 Javelins for the price of a tank.

Anybody else think their quick response to At Attin is connected to what happened to Nevarro?
Imagine if words spread that a pirate corsair bombarded a peaceful and unprotected village and the NR denied help. The Galaxy was so disgusted that the senate had to immediately revise their policies. Then we get a NR that quickly came to aid when At Attin was needing. Keep in mind there was no way they could really know if that was really THE At Attin from the stories.

"you can add awesome things onto it like..two packs of Uncle Ben's original", usually I really hate being interrupted by adverts on you tube but that perfectly timed one made me chuckle.

4:21 - If you think about it… they sent round about that many ships to attack the Death Star at Yavin.  Swap the Falcon for the CR-90, 5-6 Y-Wings instead of 2 B-Wings.

Isn't the reason NR responds to the crisis of At Attin so quickly because it is a Midrim world, as opposed to Outer Rim world that Carson Teva was operating on?

It's akin to being able to respond to call for help from a city that magically appeared in the middle of US, as opposed to some obscure country in Eastern Europe.

I know why and it’s pretty simple really. It’s to take on large pirate, criminal, etc ships when a cruiser or capital ship isn’t available for whatever reason. It’s a lot more efficient then risking many more lives and massive costs of a major asset when a squad of x-wings and a couple B-Wings could do the same thing.

It was great to see the B-Wings come in with the X-Wings, even if they hadn't had their capitol ship killing capabilities. I've always just loved the B-Wing design. I even received one for Christmas back in the 1980s. (Toy, of course, not an actual B-Wing. 😉😁)

I think it’s sensible that the New republic would have some composite laser B-wings on standby for use against any pirates or imperial remnants with large capital ships.
