Right now, back then, and forever in the future! There will never be another Paul Scholes. He is the only midfielder that Xavi and Iniesta looked at and said 'wow'

So modest to say he couldn't do it in today's game. He wasnt just physical, his technical game was top drawer. He'd adapt and would learn easily. Quality player

Stevie underestimates how dynamic he was.

As a United fan, it's nice to hear Gerrard pay Scholes and Keane compliments. But Stevie was also a class act, along with Lampard. The four of them would be worth a place in any team nowadays with the pampered players now.

Fresh air to hear a legend of the game talking another legend pure greatness, thats cool

As a Utd fan, I Don’t find it remotely hard to say, Gerrard is a legend of the premier league, earned EVERY single penny he was paid, and showed loyalty players now wouldn’t even know
About!.. for me, he was the Keane of the Liverpool side.

United fans secretly feared yet admired Steven Gerrard whenever he played against us. What a beast of a midfielder he was to be sure. He was their mainstay for the major part of his professional career there. Good to hear him talk nice about his rivals.

I was not a United fan whatsoever but Keane and Scholes, wow they were two incredible footballers.

Just an all round nice guy. I’m a Man Utd fan and it’s great to hear the respect he has for Keane and scholes

As a united supporter steve was one of the best players he was quality for Liverpool and England. Shooting power passing and leadership. Phenomenal midfielder.

Istanbul 2005 is still the most astonishing thing I've seen in sport, and SG was the heart of it. Always respected the heck out of this guy. Oh and that Olympiakos goal. I was immensely satisfied by that and I'm not even a Liverpool supporter

Gerrard was brilliant. A winner in a losing team but he took them to the biggest accomplishment possible. Scholes was brilliant in a different way. Visionary.

Banter aside, what a player Gerrard was. Could honestly listen to him and the guys from his generation all day. Real footballers. Not big jessys diving and crying if shouted at like todays lot like bellingham and rashford.

I feel privileged to have been a football fan in the Steven Gerrard era of football. A real life Roy of the Rovers.

Stevie’s quotes about Scholes in his book is amazing

Man utd fan here. Stevie Gerrard was an immense player who had every attribute for the Premier league. A proper player who gave everything. The games changed unfortunately not enough or any of these type of players around.

Stevie G is a legend. Big respect for his playing, his analysis and knowledge of the game. The England team would benefit from having him around. From a Man United fan.

I seen Gerrard play 4 times at OT. He’s probably the most committed and determined player I’ve ever seen. He would chase down every ball, track back and bomb forward every single time. Nothing was a dying cause even when Liverpool were losing. He’s always had my respect for that.

As a man United fan, i can say with certainty that Gerrard was one of the most complete midfielder in the prem. He had everything. And it's really nice of him to acknowledge Scholes like that. He put Scholes above him if they were to play in today's game. Not only that he said he'd be the best in the prem. Now don't get him wrong, he said scholes was brilliant back then, but there are certain attributes where he was not so brilliant... Like tackling, running back and forth the whole 90 mins. Back then, the game was tough and you had to be physically there. It's nice to see Gerrard gave Scholes his deserved accolade.
