■ KBS Founding Anniversary Special - Sacred Objects Part 1: The Covenant
▶ A Boy’s Prayer at the End of the World
Geralta in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia. In the Geralta area, where rugged mountain ranges and dizzying cliffs stand like a folding screen, lies the ‘Abuna Yemata Gu Church,’ a holy site not easily accessible. It is a place that can only be reached by climbing a sheer cliff 2,580 meters above sea level with nothing but the bare hands. It is a path where a single misstep separates the boundary between life and death.
Kvrom, a thirteen-year-old boy born and raised in the Geralta region, is poor but bright. He considers the time spent encountering God while climbing the Abuna Yemata Gu Church atop the cliff to be happiness. He hopes to one day become a priest to protect the ‘Abuna Yemata’ tabot and be a source of strength for his family and village, but reality is far from easy.

▶ A Boy’s Prayer at the End of the World A few years ago, the civil war that swept through the Tigray region completely destroyed the daily lives of the Khvrom family. They barely survived, but lost their livestock and property. His older brother, who had dreamed of becoming a priest, left for the capital, Addis Ababa, to earn money, and the boy’s journey toward priesthood faces a harsh reality. His father eventually sets out to sell even the remaining sheep. Poverty still weighs down their lives, and the wounds of war have yet to heal. Will Khvrom be able to overcome this arduous path and safely become a priest?
