You have Minus 5.3 dbi gain.

I will use my Spiderbeam and build the 20M vertical. I already have a 10-meter 5/8. I would like to try to manually switch the feed from a 49: 1 to a 1:1 balun and add radials for 40M 1/4 wave operation. Thanks for your video!

I tried such a setup for 15m last year and was very impressed how well it worked. At that time, I did not have the license to also use 17m and 20, but this is what I am planning to do this year as soon as it gets warm enough again to operate on near by hills (I cannot put something like that up at my apartment).
These types of antennas as well as T2LTs are my preferred ones as of now. I do not have much experience yet as I am new to ham radio, but it seems like with these simple and cheap verticals success is more or less guaranteed, provided the QTH is suitable. 🙂

I’ll be trying one soon. Thanks.

Thanks You.

I haven't done that with a wire, but I have used the Chameleon CHA SS17 (17ft Whip) as a 20m 1/4 wave for several activiations and it worked well.

Why does the counterpoise need to be 1/4 wavelength? That seems long compared to other data I’ve seen for EFHW. Thank you for your vid and any guidance you can provide.

....the EFHW is in itself is a complete and efficient antenna, and for regional or continet wide coverage, (field day) no radials are necessary.. What changes the pattern is how and if you use some kind of counterpoise or ground plane...with a multi wire array of RAISED radials over a concrete roof, with lotsa rebar in it, I found the 20 and 10m performance suggests better than your plot; with performance that seems to rival a 2 element beam.... and I use only100 watts and a LiFEPo4 battery for power. In addition, using 30# test copper fishing line, sprayed with a light blue laquor for addional corrosion protection; this antenna becomes near invisible against the sky...

Thanks for posting this! Due to HOA constraints I'm running similar 20 m EFHW up a palm tree with 49:1 unun , but I'm using feed as counterpoise. I kinda stumbled into this config just trying to make something work in space I had, and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. What is your reasoning on the 5 m dedicated counterpoise v. using feedline and common mode choke?

Totally confused as to where you configured a 5m Counterpoise in MMANAGAL - did you leave that out for a reason?

Thanks for the vid. Forgive me if I missed this, but at what height AGL is th unun and antenna base? Thanks again!

You are doing for 14 mhz? How fare do you comunicate with 14 MHz at day?

Fascinating. I'm just curious about how you secure your pole elements so they don't collapse?

these antennas work even better with the feedpoint elevated to 2m  check the modeling in your software then compaire it to WSPR results,  it does require a 12 m pole though!!
