How to Cheat in Trout Fishing (100% Legal)

Trout stocking has been prevalent in the United States for over 100 years. And in my state, every Spring & Fall the state-run hatcheries release thousands of trout all for the purpose of being caught by recreational anglers. The best part? The money from your fishing license is what funds the whole thing. Typically the state updates a publicly accessible database the day they stock it with trout. However we decided to be absolute degenerates and follow the trout stocking truck from the hatchery on its route across Massachusetts...and it did not disappoint. Afterwards I whipped up one of my favorite smoked trout recipes for family dinner and it was a hit!

I'm guessing that those tournament fishermen that stuff fish with lead weights started out following fish planting trucks when they were younger.

I grew up on a lake in maine that got stocked and they had to go by my house to get the truck to the water so i would go watch every year as a kid

I have a job where I can go fishing on my lunch break. A couple of years ago, while I was at the pond by work, the stocking truck came and I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I agree that if you're an adult, following the stocking truck is generally a faux pas, but man, if it happens to surprise you when you're already at a spot, it's great.

I’m definitely going to try that trout peeling method. My fillet skills have been destroyed by my spinal cord injury. Thank you for sharing.
