The sci-fi genre of films is easily one of my favourite genres. After all, it gave us Star Wars and Star Trek and whatnot. But eventually… these sci-fi greats also split off into a subgenre that dealt with dystopian sci-fi. Whether it was Blade Runner or something else, these films showed us exactly how bad the world could get at the hands of tech. And one such franchise was Robocop. It took tech and blended it with themes of capitalism and crime and it gave us a bloody masterpiece that people are still obsessed with today. But fortunately, guys… you can stop rewatching the same old films of the franchise because we’ve got a whole new Robocop reboot coming from Amazon MGM Studios!

In July 2018, director Neill Blomkamp signed on to helm RoboCop Returns for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, a direct sequel to Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original that would have bypassed previous sequels and the 2014 remake. He left the project in August 2019 due to scheduling conflicts with his horror film Demonic. The original writers of the 1st robocop were shunned for robocop 2 and hence why that and 3 were disasters. I hope the original writers are on board for this

I love RoboCop. I'd really like to see a true remake but honestly I think they should just leave it alone. Most remakes these days don't stay true to the original characters or story. I really hope they don't make it PG-13 😒 but Hopefully, I'm wrong though

The gritty hardcore cyberpunk feel of the original '87 Robocop is what makes the movie special. Anything after is just a watered-down imitation. An attempt to recreate the original, especially for the pussified "modern" audience, is just a recipe for disaster. Learn from the mistakes of recent releases by not following them down the road to ruin.

They should have continued with the original 1987 version, which is perfect and, aside from the old computers and the stop-motion effects, looks great to this day. No need to remake the same origin story.

Oh my God the little kid in me is just incredibly excited right now to know that RoboCop is coming back. I still remember my first action figure where it had the rolling caps on the back of it so it could sound like he's really shooting. And my favorite video game of all time will be RoboCop vs Terminator on SNES I hope he says one of his best catchphrases Dead or Alive you're coming with me

Great! I hope that the robot ED-209 in the new Robocop series will be as similar as possible to the original ED-209!🦾🤖🔥
And he will also growl and squeal from damage and falls 😁
